GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

Just keep a few receipts in the glove compartment. It's not like you're smuggling blow into the country from Peru.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

It is and they're not. NONE of this would be happening if not for all the CAFE nonsense. But people buy into it. Just like the whole Toyota "Computer Programmable Oil Pumps", that were set up for ONLY 0W-16 oil. Run anything thicker and your oil pump shuts down, your engine seizes, and the...

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

Yeah, and now they're recommending it... All the way up to 20W-50.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

Just keep all the receipts from when you bought the water thin crap. Or else go buy 5 quarts of it at Walmart before you take it in. But this is all really silly. Have you ever heard of anyone who had warranty work refused, because their oil was 10 weight too thick?

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

I used to think that way as well. But by switching to a heavier viscosity, you are lessening the chance to actually have to use the warranty. And besides, if the engine started smoking, or making funny noises, you could simply switch the oil out to whatever they had "recommended", before you...

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

I finally switched my Jeep Grand Cherokee out from 5W-20 to 5W-40. I never said anything to my wife about it. And when she went to Walmart the other day, she said it really seemed to be a lot quieter.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

Both Kia and Hyundai are now recommending oils as thick as 20W-50 in many of their engines, that were originally stickered for all the water thin stuff. They've had to replace millions of dollars in engines because of it...

Best way to clean valves on this direct injection engine?

If you're that concerned about it, run a can of Gumout Multi System Tune Up through it once and awhile. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gumout-Multi-System-Tune-up-16-oz-Automotive-Additive-510011W/43913005

    What happened to Fram Ultra?

Exactly. Many of these things end up getting wet, or else stored in very damp, humid conditions, and they start to rust..... Just like any untreated mild steel would. This has nothing to do with Fram, or "cheap steel", and everything to do with handling and storage.

The importance of oil Temperature in Determining what Viscosity of oil to run.

I had a 1979 VW Rabbit diesel. I got an honest 50 MPG with it, the entire time I had it. I had a 10 gallon auxiliary fuel tank installed . I could easily drive non stop from Chicago, to visit my dad in Houston, when I filled both to the top. Mine was a 4 speed stick. The downside is it only had...

    Breaking in a new gun....Glock 42

I've read a lot of statements that the "proper" way to release the slide is always been the "slingshot" method. But the reality is that one isn't much different than the other. I suppose that a lot of movie goers see the slide release method being used in Hollywood gunfights. So they gravitate...

The importance of oil Temperature in Determining what Viscosity of oil to run.

I didn't want to start another thread, so I'll post this here. This latest oil change I did for my vehicles, I switched my Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 V-8 over from 5W-20, (Pennzoil Platinum), to 5W-40 (Mobil 1 European Car Formula). I've been running my 2018 Camry 2.5, 4 cylinder, that is...

    Off shore tools?

Snap On tools are insanely overpriced. Offshore tools will never reach Snap On prices. They have already reached Snap On quality. And have as good, or an even better warranty.

    Breaking in a new gun....Glock 42

I know many of the higher end Les Baer 1911's come with literature stating to run at least 200 to 300 rounds of full energy Ball ammunition through them before expecting 100% reliability. They are purposefully hand fit very tightly between the frame and slide.

    Breaking in a new gun....Glock 42

I forgot to mention that some years back I got a really good deal on some 12 gauge "Reduced Recoil" 00 Buckshot. It ran fine in all of my pump guns. But when I tried to run it through my Remington 1100 Trap gun, they wouldn't feed. Many didn't have the soup to eject the empty. And the...

    Breaking in a new gun....Glock 42

I'm betting it's the, "low recoil" ammunition. Much more so that the shape of the bullet. I've seen this same type of "Low Recoil" stuff cause failure to feed and function in a lot of different guns. I've had "low recoil" .30-06 fail to run my Remington 7400 semi auto. I've also had some of the...
