    Carmaker Nissan on borrowed time?

Did you service the CVT regularly? If so: - How often (mileage and/or timewise)? - Just drains-and- fills, or did you drop the pan and change the filter as well? - What CVT fluid did you use? Thanks.

1984 Brit DIY Car Maintenance/Repair Periodicals - Cost Of Shipping Only

These are on the way to our own @Kira. Sorry, no ads - I guess they were relying solely on the cover price for revenue. Edit: However, at some point I plan to round up a bunch of old PS magazines from the '80s. They are no doubt chock-full of miracle fuel-saving devices.

2012 Chevy Sonic - Brake Rotor Rusted On

He bought what the closest parts store had in stock. I don't think they're coated. Time will tell how they hold up.

New Battery-powered Lawnmower - Misleading Marketing

When I saw how small my friend's mower was, I figured that a lot less energy would be required to turn the short blade.

1984 Brit DIY Car Maintenance/Repair Periodicals - Cost Of Shipping Only

Anyone interested in copies of CAR FIX IT, a weekly Brit periodical from 1984? Yours for the cost of shipping. I have issues #7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15-17, and 19-22. There were 72 in all. These might have nostalgic value for some of our Brit, Aussie, or Kiwi members.

New Battery-powered Lawnmower - Misleading Marketing

That would have been my preference, but the owner tends to buy on the basis of initial cost. Time will tell whether it works out for him.

2012 Chevy Sonic - Brake Rotor Rusted On

My friend phoned yesterday saying that his 2012 Sonic was making a terrible noise when braking. He had already picked up new brake pads, but not rotors. We did the passenger side first, which went well. The pads were thin (c. 3 mm (1/8")) but wearing evenly. The rotor still appeared to be in...

New Battery-powered Lawnmower - Misleading Marketing

A friend recently bought a new electric (battery, not corded) lawnmower - WORX brand, 40 V, 14", advertised as having with two batteries. It was on sale for around C$300. I thought, good, that way you can have one battery charging while you cut with the other. As it turns out, the mower runs...

Thread for photos that 100% do not violate any Terms Of Service, not political, not too lewd, no gas price pics etc.

One of my co-workers in the late '80s brought in some old hockey magazines his dad had saved. One magazine from the late 1950s had Gordie on the cover, and the story inside said that if the Wings dropped Gordie back to the blueline, his knees would hold up better and he might be able to play...

What are you working on today?

Mazda and Kia also seem to like fine-thread stuff. I had to buy one expensive oddball die (M10 x 1.25?), and will need more.

What are you working on today?

You may have seen my thread about replacing a front wheel bearing on a 2009 Kia Sedona van. The old bearing was rusted in really badly, and removal was challenging. I feared exactly the same thing you experienced - damaging the new bearing driving it in. I cleaned up the knuckle well with a...

    2009 Kia Sedona - Front Wheel-bearing Replacement

Reassembly goes well - but my bride and I are cycling out for a meal, so that's it for now. No, I'm not reusing the old hub nut. I installed the it finger-loose just to make sure the splined axle shaft didn't pop out of the knuckle whilst I was fighting with the ball joint and strut.

    2009 Kia Sedona - Front Wheel-bearing Replacement

Yay - I received the order a few minutes ago. To compensate me for the botched original order, RA included a plump cat.

Oil Change Intervals 3k vs Longer with full synthetic

The Hyundai/Kia problematic 4-cylinder engines seem to be MY2011 on, but I didn't start hearing about widespread problems with them until about 2018. So, there was a window there where an informed consumer could have bought one in good faith, expecting they would be as good as the earlier H/K...

    2009 Kia Sedona - Front Wheel-bearing Replacement

I waited until the 19th (yesterday) in accordance with an email discussion with RA's customer service, and then reported through RA's website that the parts had not been delivered. This time things seemed to have worked - per UPS's tracking, the parts are to be delivered tomorrow.

    2009 Kia Sedona - Front Wheel-bearing Replacement

I went through UPS's AI chat program, and was able to talk with a real person at a call centre. Her English was a bit hard to understand, but the gist of it is that UPS claims they have not been able to pick up the parcel yet due to it (the parcel) being held up in security. They (UPS) claim...

    Rusty Mercedes SUV

Like some winter roads in Canada. The chemical reaction (oxidation) slows down a lot when it's really cold (e.g. in excess of -20°C). So here in "Winterpeg" our rust is not nearly as bad as mild and snowy southern Quebec, which is climatically more like upstate NY. When we see a vehicle like...
