Can't hurt with the wiped lobes I've been seeing in the shop (Jeep dealership). Common failure with these are the cam sprockets. Seen the back orders go 3 months or more.

Worth a try and if you want to remove it, some fishing line will cut through the tape. Makes it easier to remove if you ever need to.
