25 LED bulbs tested and rated - video

Salt River Project Power Company sent me 2 dozen LED bulbs free. Only one has failed after 4 months and I have no issues with the rest.

    corded impact wrench

I have a 3/4 inch flex handle and buy only the socket size I need for the job. I add a short length of pipe if needed. I've never had a pneumatic or electric impact wrench. I have a 1/2 inch speed handle for lug nuts. Check how much room you have to fit a tool before you buy.

How old is too old for a vehicle to be reliable?

I have a 24-year old vehicle with 177k miles on which I perform all the repairs and maintenance. As I recall, about 3-4 years ago, OEM parts availability declined. Aftermarket parts quality and availability has generally been spotty with some exceptions. Over the last 5 years or so, I've elected...

Have you ever felt an invisible presence

My wife was taking me to a hospital for life saving surgery. On the way, an immense sense of peace, unlike anything I've ever experienced came over me. Physically, it felt more like a hug than a touch and I knew everything would be alright. I was in complete peace while the nurses prepped me and...

    Tire Tread Depth

It appears they reported thread depth at a wear bar. Wear bars are about 2/32 inches. I suspect they measured the depth the same way you did and then subtracted 2/32 inches to arrive at a depth when tire replacement is recommended.

Audi really don’t trust their owners.

My vehicles are 24 and 13 years old and both are ready for daily driving. I check oil on a weekend when I have time to check all the fluids AND look around for anything abnormal. On the first weekend of each month I look under the vehicles, check CV boots, etc..

Toyota 4 Runner with 225k miles and filter not changed in over 3 years...

I contacted Mobil about this issue of torn filter media over the weekend and received a reply very early this morning, "Your inquiry has reached the Mobil motor oil support desk for US market vehicles and US market oils. I'm copying our Filter Hotline for further assistance." I'm hoping someone...

Toyota 4 Runner with 225k miles and filter not changed in over 3 years...

There's no excuse for that! Thank goodness my 2011 4Runner has an oil filter cartridge which I can inspect. Haven't found a bad Toyota filter yet.

Toyota 4 Runner with 225k miles and filter not changed in over 3 years...

Looking at the hole in the filter reminds me of an incident. Many years ago I was working on a Dodge Caravan with a Mitsubishi engine. I cut open a white no name brand oil filter and found 1/3 of the filter media was missing. Obviously, the filter was assembled new with missing media. The...

Are thinner oils about fuel economy or tighter engines?

I have a 2011 1GR-FE engine that calls for 0W-20. Some 2010 versions of 1GR-FE use 5W-30. I found no differences in part numbers for the crankshaft, main bearings, rod bearings, camshaft, cam bearings, pistons, piston rings, oil pump and VVTi. I live in a hot climate and decided to use 5W-30...

One of our trucks got hit this morning.

The first picture shows a 10 MPH speed limit on a road too narrow to pass. Is that the location where the crash occurred?

Thinking of switching auto insurance companies

That happened to me. That's when they told me to stay logged in to the app 24/7. The setup instructions were not clear about that. I'm not aware of any other changes needed to resolve the issue.

Thinking of switching auto insurance companies

As a Drive Safe and Save user, I have been advised to stayed logged into the iPhone app at all times. Furthermore, they recommend I log out and back in once a month. I report mileage twice a year and no one else drives the car. I think reported mileage has to agree with mileage accumulated in...

Thinking of switching auto insurance companies

I've had State Farm since I began driving 56 years ago. No complaints. I'm also on Drive Safe and Save. No complaints there either and I wish I had enrolled earlier.

What's on the underside of the housing? You don't want the crack advancing any further. Is plastic welding the underside a possibility?
