    Valvoline Restore Protect 5w-30, 5149 Miles, 14 S60 T5

Most ALL Acuras and Hondas do not consume oil at the rate many owners with the 3.7L engine experienced. In this day and age, when a manufacturer acknowledges a flaw in their system, it's not something they designed to be that way. I believe you may have commented on a similar post in another...

    HONDA GN4 vs Maxima Synblend

It's illegal for a manufacturer to require you to use their oil. If they do, they have to give it to you for free. That's been established now for decades and decades. I'd be curious to see the wording in the Honda manual that leads one to believe they have to use GN4, as there should be some...

    Valvoline Restore Protect 5w-30, 5149 Miles, 14 S60 T5

On my second oil change with restore and protect 5W30. 2010 Acura TL SH AWD 3.7L J37 engine. 208,000 miles when I started the regimen, 212,500 currently. Doing OCI's at 60% on the oil minder which is around 3500 miles or so with my driving. Added 1 qt in the first 3500 mile OCI, and it was a...

Any wisdom on KTM 790/890 Cam wear problems?

Good thought, Zee. Makes sense. My Kawasaki ZRX1200 is notorious for low oil pressure at idle. Kawasaki recommends 10w40 in general however a good 20w50 has been easily proven (pressure readings with a remote tester) to provide more psi than 10w40 at that low rpm. Also, bumping the idle rpm a...

Any wisdom on KTM 790/890 Cam wear problems?

Looks good for the second sample at 2000km. Prorating the iron wear, it looks to be about the same as the first full OCI if extrapolated. Are there other UOA's to compare this engine to and see if that is par for the course with this engine?

What's better for storage - Sta-Bil or seafoam?

60 mile ride yesterday on the ZRX 1200. Added Red before the ride, topped off the tank afterward. Put another small shot of stabilizer in afterwards for the added fuel. Goal is to ride once a month (or more) through the winter in Colorado. Not too difficult if the nice days fall on the...

BRP Tech. department confirmed, JASO MA2 not necessary in spyder RT 2023

Saw a recall on the 2018 and up 'Wings for the crankshaft position sensor/pulsar rotor breaking off the crank. FWIW if you hadn't seen it yet.

BRP Tech. department confirmed, JASO MA2 not necessary in spyder RT 2023

I don't disagree. However, to my knowledge an Xw40 doesn't have to abide by any friction reducing quality standards. Whether it's on the JASO list or not, it will be a fine choice. With that said, in those 500,000 miles, have you run any CAR oil in 5W30 or 10W30, or mostly CAR oil in 0W40...

Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage 5W-30 VOA

I'd hit it ....if I wasn't in the second OCI with Valvoline Restore and Protect on an Acura TL SH AWD 3.7L engine that has a known issue with carbon fouling on the rings which leads to increased oil consumption.

Great moly content and a good scoop of boron as well. I'd hit it.

What's better for storage - Sta-Bil or seafoam?

Exactly. The stuff dissected around here that creates a tidal wave based on one-off occurrences and info from other forums decades ago, literally, amazes me. It's NOT difficult to do quick 'net searches and save all kinds of stress.

What's better for storage - Sta-Bil or seafoam?

Found this on another forum. Key point is past shelf life, and next key point it is specific to a certain time period.

Amsoil Motorcycle Oil - why is API rating outdated?

When the oil is basically a 40 grade, even though it says 30 grade on the bottle, you're running a 40 grade. Not a 30 grade. At that point, a 10W-40 would be a perfect alternative if we want to get down to the nitty-gritty.

Amsoil Motorcycle Oil - why is API rating outdated?

With respect to additives and "weaker" 30 wt oils, my main concern would be MOFT. I did some quick checking to confirm what I have been seeing, and Honda is the only main manufacturer that recommends a 10w30 as the "standard" oil. Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW, Triumph, Ducati, KTM, Royal...

Winterization...to drain or not to drain?

With all respect, it is so well known not to start the bike up, let it idle to warm it up every so often and expect it to be a positive experience for an internal combustion engine over, say, a 6 month period. The water temperature comes up, but oil is not being stressed, and it will never...

    Spectro Platinum 4 10w-50 VOA

Very basic additive package for a full synthetic, not impressive on that front. Used Mobil 1 10w40 4T or 20W50 V Twin at 5000 miles from my analysis posted on BITOG has as much remaining ingredient (Ca and Mg) with tons more boron, moly, zinc and phosphorus with TBN's of 6.4 and 6.5...

    Brutal article about Hailie Deegan

Not comparing on "any level", comparing on the IndyCar level. It's a circle of what aboutism and deflection. I've cited specific statistics and numbers that back what I'm sharing with any comparison I've made. Show me that's not correct.
