    Manual transmission used daily

Doesn't answer my questions, but ok. I guess I'll keep enjoying my 2008 Infiniti EX35. So far for $3.2k it required zero investments at 150k miles. And if it needs any investments in next 10k-50k-150k miles, then my basic mechanic tool kit has all I need to tackle any job.

    Manual transmission used daily

I'd go with something like this: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1589650898621878/?mibextid=dXMIcH Here is how it does on the track:

    Manual transmission used daily

Nice. Drop $1k right off the bat (plus time and sweat equity if DIY) into a $9k car just to have a shot at reliability. Does it require any specialty BMW tools for these jobs? Not bad for a Euro car I guess. Is xDrive reliable on these, or fails as often as on manual BMW X3, where many choose...

    2025 VW Atlas

Good catch, I totally missed it, as did the OP 😂

The used car market is tough. I need to change my approach.

As has been mentioned: less words. People are lazy, so skip the 90% of what you currently have in the add. Let's take your Spark EV for example. Here is what I would write in that ad: - 2014 Chevy Spark EV (2LT) - Clean title. - Only 74K miles, full service history in Carfax included. - Clean...

    Dealership negotiations...

I've helped some friends and family with car purchases recently. I obviously did homework and was able to get what I wanted every time. Just gotta research a little, and have a number once you come in. I give the number right away, and they come back with something twice as high. Then it's a...

2009 Camry 2AZ-FE with 90k miles was flushed with green coolant

You're good. It's better to have a full capacity of same coolant, than a mixture from different manufacturers, no matter how compatible they say they are. Going forward just use the same universal green coolant.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Didn't these (and Hybrid Fusion Energi of this era) have the transfer shaft assembly bearing failure? I believe it got fixed around 2015, but a 2013 could still be affected. Pricey repair, and common failure.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

If I remember correctly the Sienna was a clear case of user error. Complete such error on an X5, or Atlas, or Sequoia, or Pilot, and the repair bill will be same or more. Aside from that user error that broke your automatic hatch mechanism - what else on it was an expensive nightmare to service...

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

I love your passion for Euro cars. They're amazing when they're fixed. But that passion seems to put some really thick pink shades over you bud. Here is just a couple examples of what I personally had to deal with, and why I'll take a base Versa with a manual over any VW. - 2013 Tiguan. Timing...

Ford 3.5L V6 with 12 qt. of oil

Goodness gracious. I suddenly love that engine now lol. I'd install a Fumoto valve just to watch it drain even longer...🤤 But knowing myself - IDK how much farther I could push it after 5000 miles... It's a weird mental block. $40.41+oil filter+tax. To push it past 5000 I'd have to at least go...

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle? Out of the 30-something cars I owned in over a decade here are my favorites. OBS GMT400. 4.3L, TH400, 34gal tank. 'Nuff said. These Hyundai Accents are plentiful, often around $2000-$3000 with 100-150k miles. Fun, need nothing extra. Fuel, oil, tires...

Anyone using M1 Truck & SUV in a Toyota 4 Cylinder?

Are you saying that motor oil never wears down? Additives don't deplete? Oxidation never occurs? Do you happen to have a tool that can measure the audible difference? A basic decibel reader is useless at this because it only measures the "high scores", or the highest level of the sound. It does...

    2010 ScionXD 188k mi; Valvoline 15w-40 15k mi

If an engine is an oil burner, then the catalytic converters will get destroyed regardless of what oil is in the crankcase. But if the engine does not burn a measurable amount of oil, then it also doesn't matter what is in the crankcase, because how else would the additives make their way into...

Anyone using M1 Truck & SUV in a Toyota 4 Cylinder?

Good for you. I had a 2003 and a 2008. Both shared that trait of getting slightly louder after a few thousand miles on the oil. The 2003 had 280k miles on it when I sold it and had no oil consumption still. They're easy on the oil when maintained reasonably. The 2JZ, 1MZ, and 3MZ engines that I...

Anyone using M1 Truck & SUV in a Toyota 4 Cylinder?

It may be great compared to vanilla M1 5W-30. But wouldn't it be a step down from the M1 Euro 0W-40? That being said - every 1ZZ I owned responded nicely to 40-grades, as far as valvetrain noise, oil consumption, or MPG. The "basic" 30-grades would start to get a little louder after 3000-4000...

3/4 Ton Gas vs Diesel vs Tundra

75% of those owners are still under warranty and beat themselves on the chest about 25,000 trouble free miles. Is that really an achievement though? And most of them will have the truck traded in before the 65,000 mile power train warranty runs out. V8 Tundras are not trouble free, but troubles...

3/4 Ton Gas vs Diesel vs Tundra

Get back to us on all these points after your warranty has been up for a good while. Most of this stuff is a "when", not an "if". RAM trucks have the best interiors, I'll give them that. And Stellantis does a good job on Form. Otherwise I am much happier driving the 2012 Tundra in every single...
