    New CVT oil ??

Exactly this. Have you heard of the Nissan CVT troubles some people have been having over the last ten years or so? How about the GT-R DCT transmission failures, shutdowns, explosions? The $30-80 (per quart / liter) transmission fluid they have been selling and recommend is not helping unless...

20x1.5 - Help me find the best filter size & type for Nissan?

I thought it was a bit suspicious when I found three 7317 sized filters from Full with 20x1.5 thread but another one was posted over on the Honda filter thread. I wonder how different they will be? 1-OHD331 https://www.fullfilterparts.com/catalog/oilfilter/1-ohd331

    The Honda Oil Filter Thread

Are those the longer 7317 size or the short / square 6607? The Full web catalog is not great for filter finding and info. ... Okay, that looks like the longer 7317 size. Full seems to have many different numbers for this size. How to find them all...

20x1.5 - Help me find the best filter size & type for Nissan?

Yes I thought the GT-R might get something a little more "special". I used to be involved with them in the early days but I haven't kept up. I should check for some interesting TSBs. I haven't been under the cars in a while but hopefully I'll be able to check this weekend.

    Carquest Premium 84356 C&P 6303 oci

I prefer the P-style as I believe it provides better or more consistent sealing. It's similar to an O-ring, less drag on contact and probably higher compression. I'm sure there's a study out there somewhere.

    New CVT oil ??

There are many ways you can talk yourself into justifying your position but the fact is that CVT transmissions at not very complicated, mechanically. The fluids that are required to maintain these gearboxes have been very well understood for over a decade but proper maintenance is up to you and...

    New CVT oil ??

The bottom line here is that if you WANT to buy and use Subaru's brand of CVT fluid, go right ahead, I'm sure it's fine. In my personal and professional experience, over decades, the aftermarket offers better fluids at a better price. Personally, I hate getting "ripped off", or being swindled...

New HPL CVT fluid, updated ATF PDS

The CVT fluid is no longer on the PDS on the site from what I can see. Is there a separate CVT PDS now?

    New CVT oil ??

And what happened when you changed the fluid after that? Not a drain and fill, as that is usually about a third of the ATF in the system, but a full system change. More info is needed to try to make sense of what you experienced. - what was the milage when you changed the fluid (as mentioned...

    New CVT oil ??

If the fluid was the problem (it wasn't if you were using a recommended fluid) then you could confirm this by changing fluids. People often blame damage from neglect and poor maintenance on the fluid, this is incorrect but easy to understand why they think or believe it.

Another option I'd recommend above any OEM fluid would be from Red Line. Here's what they have to say: https://www.redlineoil.com/non-slip-cvt Designed specifically for use in metal belt-type Continuously Variable Transmissions including Mini, Nissan and Subaru Suitable replacement for...

    New CVT oil ??

Yes, this story has been told many times before. I can vividly remember the days of Dexron VI, Mercon LV, ATF+4, DCT, ULV, etc, etc, etc. Of course there are real reasons why Nissan stocks two or three different CVT fluids just like many other OEMs, but the truth doesn't help them profit. What...

    New CVT oil ??

Yes, exactly why? It's an old story that gets told over and over again. Just have a look at the list of CVT fluids (or ATF for that matter) on the Volvoline Maxlife PDS, it's ridiculous. I suppose I should say to look at the PDS for the respective fluid to see if it is recommended. ... just...

    New CVT oil ??

I would use Amsoil or Red Line over dealer fluids unless the dealer fluid is a much better value. CVT fluid is not that special but the transmission must be kept clean. Do you know if the transmission has a removable pan, magnets, filter? Keeping the pan and magnets clean is much more important...

    Fram PH3600 C&P. Pending tear?

Yes, I've never understood the blowback against the paper end-caps, the filter media is paper. So ... only use metal-mesh filters with no paper? If this was me I would stop using the PH3600. One of the reasons to inspect a filter after it's used is to identify problems and avoid or correct them.
