I ended up settling for PG4612EX 6 pack for cheap from eBay. It has a setting of 14-17 psi. Much better. The correct PG4615EX says coming soon and nowhere to be found. I emailed PGI a week ago and just got crickets.

Sorry to revive an old thread. I was doing some research on alternate filters for my 2021 Outback. I contacted orileys about the bypass psi setting in filter part# MSL57356. They said it’s 8-11 psi.

Close to 10 year old vehicle with almost 140k miles! It’s a machine and can break. If no damage was done I would have just changed head gaskets and moved along. I don’t know how it’s the manufacturers fault a 10 year old vehicle with than many miles. It can happen to any brand.

5w30 is allowed as an alternate. They also mention living in hotter climates with vague increased viscosity as required. Other have noticed Subaru corporate responding emails allowing 0w30.

I saw that today. Theirs couple sellers offering a case for even cheaper than my smoking deal ! $29 plus tax shipped for a 6 pack. Awsome deal. Will be real hard to switch back to Champ made leaky filters for double the price.

Well I was able to beat RockAutos price on eBay. Found a case of 6 filters for $37.80 shipped after tax. About $2-3 cheaper than RA. Comes out to about $6.3 per filter. I’m a little skeptical about eBay parts but looks like a legit filter. Much cheaper than Amazon.

Any online stores sell PG style filters in bulk? Can’t find any on rockauto.

A Dab of grease will keep it rust free for a couple weeks. I’d just purchase a paint touch up pen from Subaru if they sell them.
