EPA possibly goes after the Start/Stop System!

I had a Car of the Future back in 1974. Every time I stopped at a stop light, it stalled.

    Browning Hi-Power

I purchased a Browning Hi-Power, brand new, 1977 production, in 1978. I still have it. Paid $299 at the time, which I thought was expensive.

More problems with Bosch spark plugs

I have not used a Bosch spark plug since the 1970s, when they were OEM on my boxer twin BMW motorcycle. I would only trust NGK or Denso plugs.

What are you doing right now?

I just got off the air with my amateur radio station, callsign K1XV. Made many trans-Atlantic contacts. Going upstairs to make a light dinner, then turning on the TV to watch the Boston Red Sox play the Kansas City Royals.

Do you ever have dreams of lost loved ones?

I have had dreams of friends who have died suddenly who came back in a dream to say goodbye. I still remember one dream from over 40 years ago. I had a best friend who died at 35 as a suicide. He kept many secrets that I never found out about until after he died. I guess I never really knew...

If you have a best friend enjoy your time with them before you lose them.

At age 78, I have made, and lost, a lot of friends of both sexes. A best friend from high school was a suicide at age 35. Another best friend, 14 years my junior, suddenly died of a heart attack at age 58. Yet another friend, so close I was his daughter's Godfather, just passed of pancreatic...

How long do pilots wait for passengers of connecting flight to board before the door is closed ?

I missed a connection once, in the mid 1980s on what was then an independent Continental Airlines. I was flying from Newark to Albuquerque, with a connection in Dallas, or maybe it was Houston. The plane was late getting off the ground in Newark. They put me up at a hotel for the night and...

Seeing a theme premium oil cheap tires

Decades ago, my now deceased father used to buy one cheap tire at a time for his "commuter car". And he was so cheap, he would mount them himself in his driveway, so as to not pay the tire shop for this job. He would often be driving on four different brands of tires in four states of wear...

How long do pilots wait for passengers of connecting flight to board before the door is closed ?

I believe the Venice to Munich train left the station about 7 minutes behind its scheduled departure time. I think they accommodated me because there is only one train daily on that route. It was not a light weight "high speed" electric train. It was diesel powered with older, heavy weight...

How long do pilots wait for passengers of connecting flight to board before the door is closed ?

About 15 years ago, I was traveling by train from Rome (Italy) to Munich, (Germany). It involved a high speed Italian train going north to a rail hub near Venice, and changing trains to a BahnHof (German railways) train going north, through the Brenner Pass, to Zurich. By the schedule, I only...

How long do pilots wait for passengers of connecting flight to board before the door is closed ?

About 25 years ago, I booked a round trip from EWR (Newark NJ) to Ankara Turkey. I booked the ticket in July, and the return trip to EWR from Ankara was in late September. Only problem was, the schedules changed. I was originally supposed to change aircraft in Zurich, with 45 minutes between...

Cast Iron Engine Blocks & Heads vs Aluminum

Perhaps the most durable auto engines in my memory were the Mercedes OM617 series 5 cylinder diesels, some fitted with turbos. These engines were cast iron blocks and heads, and with proper care, could go a half million miles or more. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_OM617_engine

    Moved to Retirement Living

Sounds like all it needs is a mausoleum down the road for long, long term occupancy. :) May you live long and well. At age 78, I am slowly disposing of unused personal property I rarely or never use that others would like.

Where middle class families may have eaten out at before TGIFs, Applebees, etc

I liked the Argyle too, The owner used to come out wearing a kilt. The place that was 50 cents when I was a kid was Thompsons, which was on Kearny Ave near Harrison. And Rutts Hut, I lived in Bloomfield in my teens not far from Rutt's Hut. A lot of the old places around Styertown are now...

i suggest mortgaging everything you own to the max you can borrow, and use the proceeds to build yourself a magnificent private mausoleum with only one crypt....one for you and you alone. It will be a sad day for all when you pass.
