    Has GTL proved itself?

The original Mobil 1 of 50 years ago was a GTL oil, with the gas being ethylene. When the legal definition of what can be described as "synthetic motor oil" was legally expanded to include almost anything not naturally occurring in nature, Mobil 1 ceased being exclusively GTL.

    Choosing a Generator

or a huge tornado comes along, sending the utility line, the back up generator, the back up to the back up generator, and the home to be served, sending them all to Oz. How do you locate a back up generator to Oz when your house lands there with you inside it? Are you prepared to deal with...

    Choosing a Generator

You want a back up for your backup generator? The main reason your lights would go out is the failure of your backup generator to start or it breaking down......not a sudden shortage of natural gas to fuel it. To cover yourself if the generator fails to start or breaks down, I would propose a...

Quick lube places employ the least qualified technicians, who must attempt to change oil on the largest range of vehicle models. And the lubricants they use are generic. They can be sloppy, introducing dirt into the engines as they add new oil. They try to make extra money by selling extra...

When the State of New Jersey, or anyone else, for that matter, puts out a Request for Proposals, it normally states conditions that are acceptable or unacceptable. Here, one "monopoly" is being replaced by another monopoly. There is no need for any monopoly. These rest areas are...

Burying an ethernet cable across the yard, how do I do it?

As an amateur radio operator, I run coaxial cables across long distances. The cables have non contaminating jackets, and are made for outdoor use. I just run them across the grass, without burying them. I then let the grass grow for a while. The cables wind up under the grass thicket...

New Jersey has over 200,000 electric vehicle registrations and the number continues to grow, fast. Having spent a fair amount of time in New Jersey the last few years, Tesla is the dominant brand. It seems ridiculous to tear out an existing infrastructure of Tesla chargers and have another...

    Post your latest beer consumption

I gave up drinking beer years ago. My latest consumption was probably a Narragansett Lager at Fenway Park when Jim Rice was still a player. I might try a Michelob Ultra Zero just to see how bad it is.

    $2.50 for pump air?

Unless I am really short on cargo room, I carry a 12v Milwaukee air compressor. Attach it to the tire, turn it on, see what pressure you have, set it to the desired pressure, hit the start button. It inflates the tire to the set pressure, and turns itself off.

I could tell harrowing stories about my trips to Newark and Camden NJ and East ST Louis, Illinois, and how safe I felt in Amman Jordan, Ankara Turkey, and Ypres, Belgium. Just avoid PAKISTAN, MYANMAR, NORTH KOREA and AFGHANISTAN. I would also skip IRAQ, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, VENEZUELA and BELARUS.
