Living near Austin TX. Considering a move to TX.

@Cmobile - I saw your post about the free oil change at Walmart. Congratulations on your retirement! Have you narrowed your search in Texas? Or are you going to wait until you've been here for a bit to get acclimated to how traffic and other factors affect your day-to-day life vs other people's...

Does anyone here without a garage use a pop-up canopy tent?

I bought two of these 40 Pound Canopy Weight Set of 4 and Carry Strap from Amazon. If you use two per leg, you can rotate one 90 or 180 degrees from the other and they interlock. Makes a windy day a non-issue.

Does anyone here without a garage use a pop-up canopy tent?

Good to hear it's working out for you. Maybe mine didn't because I'm getting too old to mess with it due to lack of patience. I've always wanted a large fan like that, but don't have space to store it where it's convenient. Every time I go through HD and pass the rows of fans, I have to stop...

Does anyone here without a garage use a pop-up canopy tent?

We have a garage, but it's too tight to do any work in, so I bought a 13' x 13' pop-up canopy off Amazon. Not that it wasn't a good product, but it was a PIA to set up by myself, so I try to work on the car when the shadows from my house or the neighbor's huge trees are over my driveway...

NEW Vehicle Advice / Recommendations: Anyone? Subaru or Toyota? What says the gang?

Do you have a dog? If so, you're almost obligated to get a Subaru. Otherwise, I'd go with Toyota.

    My favorite part of NASCAR....

I can still see him getting out of his car on a backstretch during a red flag and pulling a fender out away from a tire.

    My favorite part of NASCAR....

"Loud" doesn't do justice to the sounds of being at the track. In 2013, my wife and I were guests of Chip Gannasi Racing at Texas Motor Speedway. We had hot passes, use of NTT's suite, the whole nine yards. Jamie McMurry was their cup driver, and this kid named Kyle Larson drove their Busch...

Average car Overfilled 1 qt. anyone ever see this cause a problem?

Yes, and this place has a very good reputation. I'm assuming is wasn't their front-line tech. His S6 was low miles and in perfect condition. The shop's insurance did what all insurance companies do and low-balled what they were willing to pay. The owner of the shop opened up his...

This isn't a subtle attempt to increase sales by one quart per transaction, is it? Just asking.

I also thought the pilots might say a small white dog ran across in front of them so they had to swerve to miss it (not an uncommon excuse in law enforcement).

0w-16 Pour Point: Mobil 1 Vs. Amsoil Vs. HPL

I saw or read somewhere this was a conscious decision by Valvoline to use reduced amounts of cleansing additives due to the potential of creating restrictions or completely clogging parts of the system (filter) due to releasing too many carbon and other deposits too quickly. Then again, you may...

My neighbor took his Audi S6 to a local shop less than a mile away instead of his usual mechanic for a quick oil change before going out of town. After all, how can you screw up an oil change, right? Well, it turns out it's not that hard. They drained fluid from under the car, filled the engine...

I was emailing back and forth with HPL about oil for the Honda Pilot we recently bought. Based on the anecdotal data he found while researching the J35Y8 engine, his recommendation was not trying to extend OCIs too long: "Most were recommending more frequent oil changes than the 10K Honda is...

Tractor Supply Co: Oil on sale to decent prices + 10% off pickup discount

This is interesting. I've always just told them I was a veteran and have a copy of my DD214 on my phone, showed it to them, and got the discount. Here are the specifics on their website, which does not say you get a 10% discount across the board. I guess the cashiers I've dealt with didn't...
