    Amsoil Signature Series 0w-20 4k, Honda Pilot 3.5L, 4.5k

Good points. I'll ask Lake. Here is Lake's response to the fuel dilution in the VOA sample (mistake, for which he apologized). I also questioned why the molybdenum level from VOAs taken from the same source sent to multiple labs would differ between the lab Speediagnostix uses vs Blackstone and...

    The future of vehicles....

Even if it dies an early death, if you've taken out a loan beyond the vehicle's useful life, you still owe the debt.

new Honda Pilot; OEM 0w-20 500 mi

Thanks. I went ahead and created a new post with these results. Thought it might be easier since the next update won't be for quite a while.

    Amsoil Signature Series 0w-20 4k, Honda Pilot 3.5L, 4.5k

Got back the UOA results after a 4k miles' trip. From right to left, VOA Amsoil SS 0w-20, UOA Honda OEM 0w-20 @500 miles, and UOA Amsoil 0w-20. Can see wear metals trending downward as expected. Based on the latest samples' properties, it looks like there may be some blending of the Amsoil and...

new Honda Pilot; OEM 0w-20 500 mi

Got back the UOA results after the 4k miles' trip. From right to left, VOA Amsoil SS 0w-20, UOA Honda OEM 0w-20, and UOA Amsoil 0w-20. Miles: is miles on the oil, not vehicle. Can see wear metals trending downward as expected. Based on the latest samples' properties, it looks like there may be...

    Amsoil SS & GF-7

A lot has changed since then. That's why I'm curious whether or not HPL may be quicker to incorporate the newest additive packages... and whether it truly matters between these two products.

    Amsoil SS & GF-7

I'm currently running Amsoil SS 0w-20 in the new Pilot, but seriously thinking of switching to HPL's Premium Plus PCMO. I've used Amsoil products for almost 50 years. From what I've been able to find related to HPL, they are quicker to incorporate the newest additive advancements and often have...

Thermostat opinions - Lower Set point for Summer

This ^^^. I had a 1999 Dodge conversion van with the 318 engine having similar issues. Bought it new, so knew how it was maintained. Went through flushing, changing thermostat, etc. Finally replaced the radiator and all was well. Sold it to my next door neighbor and he passed it on to a large...

Thinking of getting a Milwaukee Packout toolbox or similar?

I have a half dozen Milwaukee bags, which three are Packout compatible. I do not use, nor have any plans to use, the rest of the Packout system and prefer the non-Packout bags due to the bottom size and rigidity of ones designed for Packout. I keep 18v portable band saws, circular saw, and other...

    CRC gasoline additive

Although I've always used Amsoil PI, my next purchase will likely be Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner. Chevron was the first to formulate PEA. It is currently on sale at NAPA auto parts for $12.99 for 32oz. Here is a link to Chevron's treat rate calculator. Basically it's one ounce...

I Had a Mid, Mid Life Crisis

Congratulations! Looks like fun. This might also be a good vehicle to take camping. You can easily sit two or three people on the trunk and use the wing as a table. Enjoy!

Torque Test Channel - Grippiest Oil Filter Tool

I'm using Amsoil filters and bought this exact tool from Amsoil for the correct filter. It's an absolute, cheaply-made, stamped, PO$. I'd send it back, but it's not worth my time. I had this exact conversation today with my Amsoil servicing dealer.

Torque Test Channel - Grippiest Oil Filter Tool

Well this is a bit embarrassing. The last few years, I haven't needed to replace a "normal" spin-on filter because the Audi's had a drop-in filter housing on the top of the engine. As soon as you mentioned pliers, I remembered I had at least one hanging in the garage. Turns out, I have two...

Flowers starting to pop in Leadville

Mine was sarcasm. Last year we didn't see near the volume of engine failures attributed to manufacturers' oil viscosity. Now with the GM 6.2L recall with one "fix" to increase viscosity, the spotlight is being shown even brighter on the use of lower viscosity oils and how this may impact engines.

Torque Test Channel - Grippiest Oil Filter Tool

I did a search and didn't find this posted on this forum. He first states it's the mechanic's equivalent to a war crime to use a wrench to install an oil filter, but guesses maybe some mechanics are paid by the lb-ft.

    Switching to Premium gasoline

Semantics. "Your Audi Q5 will run on regular. However, your car's computer will need to adjust to the lower grade of fuel. You are highly likely to experience a loss in fuel economy." Last sentence below from the owner's manual: "...to achieve the rated horsepower and torque".
