There are several companies that offer track day insurance. I've used Lockton, but Hagerty is also good. I'm an instructor and I've never made a claim so my premium for a weekend is very reasonable; the valuation of the car will have the greatest effect on the premium.

Yep- a 2015 X1 xDrive28i M Sport- and it is the slowest of the newer vehicles.

The slowest of the newer vehicles in my garage does 0-60 in six seconds flat, so some of us prioritize acceleration.

Some cars do have an oil level warning light.

I like that you can set the ambient lighting in the C43 to red. Of course the Club Sport has BMW's classic red instrument lighting. Sadly, it was eliminated and replaced with nonintuitive digital displays in order to wow the rubes and wearers.

The interior color of my C43 was a major selling point (along with the AMG performance exhaust and the derestricted top speed). I had always wanted a car with a red interior- thinking back to 1964 when my father bought one of the first Mustangs sold in KY; it was black with a red interior.

When I was in traffic court anyone found guilty of not having insurance was ordered to pay restitution if an accident had occurred. Unlike a civil judgment it could not be discharged in a bankruptcy.

I always negotiate an OTD number; the dealer can break out the numbers any way they want as long as we agree on an OTD number. If the dealer won't negotiate an OTD number I walk.

My pet peeve are the vehicle operators ("drivers " is far too generous a term) who take corners and interstate ramps at no more than 50% of the posted advisory speed- with their foot on the brake pedal the entire time.
