Just saw a Goodyear commercial titled "Forever the greatest name in tires"

I've had only one set of Goodyears over the past forty years. They were Aquatread 2 tires on a '97 Aerostar and while they didn't seem as good as the OEM Michelins they were pretty okay. They did get us through a nightmare blizzard drive in the van, so they get my stamp of approval.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Oddly enough, I just bought one of these. Ran across a really nice '14 at a little used car place between Oxford and Millville on US 27 maybe a hundred yards from where the King of Clubs and the Rusty Nail once were. Any Miami graduate from fifty years back would know what I'm talking about...

    hit and run damage

I think you may be overreacting in anger and grief. This old thing no doubt suffered worse before you owned it and can be readily repaired. If you really like it, get it fixed and move on. Your reaction seems more akin to the loss of a loved one than relatively minor damage to a car. A nice car...

Another fire has started near me

You are unfortunately correct. You may have heard about a large fire last November that sufficiently weakened a major bridge across the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Kentucky to have it closed for replacement of steel structure for a few months. It was an arson fire and the guy who started...

    The future of vehicles....

How far back are you going? GM churned out millions of cars over the past fifty years that were a hot mess. I can name some GM models going back to 1970 that were sold in the millions that were junk from delivery. GM could be making the modern iteration of the W123 with better rust resistance...

    The future of vehicles....

Well, Brit electrics have never been noted for their excellence. Also, this thing is beyond any reasonable life expectancy at its age and miles.

'26 Escape Can't Be Sold in 6 States

So Ford is dropping the Escape? Surprise to me since these things seem as common as quills on a hedgehog. Why dump a reasonably priced CUV and lose more retail buyers in the process?

    The future of vehicles....

I suspect that 10% is quite a bit less than the actual cost increment would be for the attributes you describe. Yes, Toyotas and Hondas do retain their values better than the industry average, but Subaru leads both. Explain that.

    The future of vehicles....

You are making an apples to oranges comparison. You are also placing great faith in the utterances of someone neither you nor I know with credibility we cannot asses. It is common knowledge that the 200K mile cars we can all buy today could just as easily be 300K or 400K cars with sufficiently...

    The future of vehicles....

Maybe so, but the doctrine of not being able to get blood from a turnip applies and the debt can be discharged in bankruptcy through the surrender of the collateral, running or not.

    The future of vehicles....

Yes, cars could be made to last even longer than they do and you and I could not afford to buy them. I would imagine that most folks taking out seven year loans do so out of financial necessity and since they'll always be upside down, they're probably destined to keep the beast until it's paid...

    The future of vehicles....

Saw this anonymous hit piece. Problem I have with it is that everything points to vehicles lasting longer with fewer problems than was the case in past decades. It is common for vehicles with typically indifferent maintenance to go fifteen years and 200K before they are deemed unworthy of...

Is Hybrid Oil Worth it For Super Low Mileage Cars?

Fine line between penny pinching and shopping for value in anything one buys. OP is merely asking whether the marginal cost is commensurate with the marginal value for his use case. I don't think we can give him a valid answer, although I'd spend the small marginal amount and go with the M1...

2025 JD Power Initial Quality Study

Surprised that Nissan ranks so high. Not sure how meaningful these survey results actually are.

    Broken clavicle / collar bone

You have my sincere empathy. That must hurt really badly. Hope that some non-surgical option exists. I can't see one, but then I'm not an orthopedic surgeon.

Have you recently experienced companies with system problems?

Now and then, yes. It does happen since everything is hackable and subject to ransomware attacks. In your case, it could be that the insurer is attempting to manage a cashflow problem by attributing slow claims payouts to a systems issue, but they are almost always reinsured for losses beyond a...

    air pressure and dry traction

I have always found that higher pressures improve steering response. I don't know about the hole shot part, since I've never had a car with more power than it could put down within reason. You can burn the tires on the HAH if you try, which I did inadvertently exactly once. You should also...

MolaKule Q&A on Aircraft Structures IV

From what I've read, the MD-90 had exactly that problem with the main gear reliably directing FOD into the engines, resulting in relatively low hours in service of an engine that only one shop in the world could overhaul.

I was in the wrong and I don't care.

Bottom line is that the woman in the Tesla just wanted to pick a fight. You parked in what is arguably a suitable space for any vehicle with legal CA emissions. Not even worth engaging people like her.

2025 Honda Accord Hybrid- Pick My Oil

I dunno, I've used some Honda Genuine I had laying around, some Amsoil SS, as well as FAR RTG, all 0W-20 grade. Currently running some Amsoil SB courtesy of a member here. I don't think this engine is very demanding of its oil, so it probably won't much matter what you use. I'll get the last...
