O’Hare close to dethroning Atlanta as America’s busiest airport

We don't find CLT all that awful and MCO seems okay. I think the worst US airport is MIA. Nothing wrong with ORD and ATL seems very efficient as a connection point. Personal favorites is IAD. Beautiful old terminal and also the people mover concept still in use. For point of departure you...

GR Corolla on track with 0W-20 blows engine and crashes

Owner should have used a much stouter grade for the track. Even in stock form these engines are known to grenade with Toy voiding warranty. Where's the guy who ascribed wondrous durability to Toyota products while calling BMWs trash? AFAIK, you can track any BMW without fear of failure. In the...

Driving A Hybrid? Do This To Avoid Oil Dilution - TorqueCars (YouTube)

Okay, but that may be true for any engine, not merely a DI one on a hybrid. It may also be that in your case fuel dilution may be so minimal as to be of no concern. Never know without a good UOA and I would personally invest in that before going back to 5K drains.

Driving A Hybrid? Do This To Avoid Oil Dilution - TorqueCars (YouTube)

Is oil dilution even a thing with most hybrids? I don't think so and if it is the only way to avoid it would be to minimize ICE engine running time, which most hybrids already do with no intervention by the driver.

Pennzoil refused my rebate for purchase of 2 jugs!

There was a lot of complaint about SOPUS MIR denials and simple lost submissions here years ago. If the intent of a rebate is to promote goodwill with buyers, then I would think that they'd be a little flexible in implementing their program. A rebate denied brings bad will far in excess of the...

Home for someone who is a trust fund baby or a tech gillionare

To me, this house has an airport feel to it. The living room in particular looks like a nice airport lounge. The library does seem out of place in this house, but the owner may have intended that as an eclectic element in this post moderne design. Anyway, an impressive house that might not be...

Thread for photos that 100% do not violate any Terms Of Service, not political, not too lewd, no gas price pics etc.

Our dog used to see a skunk mother followed by her kits and go for them, not in a hostile way but more out of curiosity. The skunks ambled across the back yard in no particular hurry, not too worried about this 130 lbs dog. I was fortunately able to restrain the dog from trying to check out the...

The used car market is tough. I need to change my approach.

Well, since the bottom 15-20% probably can't even keep a credit card, Uber and Lyft are probably off the table for them. While vacationing? Heck yeah! In most of Europe they have no parking in cities but they do have Bolt. Cheap, easy and quick. When traveling outside the US, we rarely rent a...

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

I think this theory has already been debunked. First, the PF would not have had his hands on the thrust levers at that stage. Second, even if he had the PM would have immediately shoved them forward. Oh, and the aircraft was flown brilliantly during its unplanned descent. It was not stalled.

Rav4 is globally no. 1 again

It should be remembered that a substantial fraction of F-150 sales are to fleet buyers and those are typically low margin strippo units with AC and some sort of radio and not much else. Had an F-250 so equipped in our fleet at work and it was pretty miserable to drive with its ride and handling...

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

One man's trash is another man's treasure. I may find a very thirsty if very quick pickup that sucks fuel like it's free to be an absurd conveyance but that does not make it so to another. Speaking of one man's trash, a BMW can be as reliable and cheap to own as any Toyota. Ask me how I know...

    A Few Used Car Questions

A 2.5 Subaru is slow enough. The 2.0 would probably be unacceptable for most current buyers, which may be the reason that Subaru began offering the 2.5 in the Crosstrek. Difference in fuel economy would be negligible and one should be as reliable and long-lived as the other since they are the...

The used car market is tough. I need to change my approach.

If you can live with the incredible lack of convenience involved in relying upon the crapshoots that are Uber and Lyft for routine local travel as well as the need to get a rental whenever you want to go out of town, then I suppose that might work. I doubt it would save you any money, though...

The used car market is tough. I need to change my approach.

Having had recent experience with the OP, I can say that he is honest and straightforward to deal with. That alone has enormous value in the cesspool that the used car market can be. In team with Steve, I did find that the auction market at the moment is nothing like it used to be. There are few...

    Toyota Care --- NO CLUE!!!!

Okay, so if part of the purchase of the car was to include two oil changes in the first 25K then they did shortchange you. I would be a little POed too. I do wonder whether it was worth your time to take advantage of these "free" service visits? Tire rotation really only needs to be done 1X in...

    Overpriced truck; '97 F-350.

The truck does look pretty cherry and there are many who are willing to pay for the mods. The miles are insane, though, unless everything that wears mechanically and cosmetically (interior) has already been replaced.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Lots of misconceptions here about what's reliable and what isn't. A BMW, Benz or VW with good service history is going to be a better bet than a Toy or Honda with no service history at all. I've owned BMWs, Benzes and a VW as well as a number of Hondas, a Datsun (280Z 2+2) a Toy and a couple of...
