2019 Accord battery ... maintenance advice needed!

Yeah, six years from delivery so some months prior to that for actual car assembly and battery install. Probably better than is typical for current batteries. The car is apparently not driven much, which does not help the battery. I generally like to replace a battery after four years in...

When whole life blinks in front of you! "Drifting AN-124."

That landed on centerline and allowed the plane to veer dangerously but then recovered it from that without departing the runway. They may have screwed up the rollout but they also recovered from that screwup. I do wonder how many tires blew out?

When whole life blinks in front of you! "Drifting AN-124."

Is this real? If so, nice save by the crew.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

At that stage of flight, the crew would neither attempt to identify nor secure a failed engine. That would wait until they had some altitude to play with. This is not a twin with propellers where identifying and feathering the dead side would be the difference between an anemic climb and a quick...

Letting a teenage kid take control of a civil airliner seems a long way from professional conduct, although this was obviously a civilian crew, but probably ex military.

    How to tax EVs

You get it. I've already written that weight would be a part of the equation, along with miles driven. Your idea would make it totally self-enforcing.

    How to tax EVs

Not that big of a deal for most drivers. Would the car get impounded? Of course not, you simply couldn't renew the registration so you could no longer legally operate it after expiration. You pay what you owe or you don't drive, simple and fair to all owners of all types of vehicles.

    How to tax EVs

Nothing that intrusive or that complicated. At registration renewal, a DMV/BMV employee would simply record your current odometer reading and you'd be charged based upon the difference between current and last. Easy, fair and totally private, since nobody would know where you'd gone or what you...

    How to tax EVs

Simple enough to charge based upon the EPA inertia weight class of the vehicle and miles operated by the odometer. No invasions of privacy nor restrictions on movement. No gas tax, no EV or HEV tax, a simple charge based upon weight and use at each registration renewal. What we should have been...

I do remember that. Here, you wanna take control for awhile? I wonder what role Vodka may have played?

An undesirable late model one. The older boattail Duetto Spyder is the one you want.

Average car Overfilled 1 qt. anyone ever see this cause a problem?

I always put 5 quarts in the 4.5 quart capacity engines we've had in the past. No issues of any kind. What if I put five quarts in a four quart capacity engine? No idea, have never done that.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

There are also examples of crew locking their partners out of the cockpit and then running the aircraft into a mountain, taking a whole planeload of passengers and other crew along on their journey to oblivion. I'm thinking of Germanwings 9525. There are more ambiguous accidents that may have...

Lucid Air Sets New Record 747 Miles on a Single Charge

We saw an Air Sunday while driving down I75 and across the river for a musical in a theater in an old Carnegie Library building in Covington. It was a production of The Color Purple and was very good. TMI and OT I know. Anyway, I love the low and wide look of the Air as well as its...

Getting a new engine from Hyundai

Sounds good and really painless. Good on Hyundai for stepping up to the plate on this for the many owners who suffered engine failures.

Latest budget makes interest on American made cars fully deductible.

This may have some marginal impact on US vehicle production, although the devil lies in the details, as always.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

Good point, although that person would have had to fight off the two pilots to reach the switches and the CVR should reveal some sounds of a struggle or a third voice that shouldn't have been there.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

Interesting bit of informed speculation from a man who has been writing about aviation for years and has also actually worked in the industry. The thing is that the piece has photos of the switches and they are guarded and also have to be lifted to move, so deliberate action would be required...
