    Bow thruster finally works

After over a years work on and off the bow thruster is in the boat and working fine. Issues were: 1) overheat thermistor permanently open 2) joystick work only to the right 3) new joystick (same exact model) need a wiring modification in the bow thruster wiring. On the positive side I can now...

2012 Volvo Penta 300 V8 C-A engine raw water engine

My Volvo Penta is a FWC engine with a cat. I will need to take out second mortgage if I ever need to replace any part of the exhaust system. No aftermarket, OEM only

    Re-torque a Fumoto valve FS-133

I just put on a Valvomax but it will be awhile before I need to change my oil. So it just sits there being a plain old drain plug. It's much more massive and SS than Fumoto. Subaru has Fumoto.

    Re-torque a Fumoto valve FS-133

I often use a wrench from by stubby wrench set. They are short so not a lot of leverage and I am 72 (in a few days). So my scientific calculations are things will be tightened between "mostly tight" and "tight" but never "over tight'.

    TOYOTA OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET

Oil-Tite sells a metal outer rubber inner gasket. Excellent. Other companies sell similar. How about a Fumoto valve?

2012 Volvo Penta 300 V8 C-A engine raw water engine

So I have not really read too many posts or had people talk about replacing anything more than the impeller and O-ring. But there is a seal and bearing. Maybe not on the same frequency as the impeller but they do go bad. Or many people just replace the entire water pump. Or sell boat and...

Is this a clutch on a Toro Timemaster?

From my lessons learned if there is a problem with spindle, carefully examine the shaft. If its the engine driven side carefully examine the flywheel/brake/pulley. I have a hunch the brake action when you let go of the blade handle does a job on the flywheel/brake/pulley wearing a hole with...

They filled the tank with gas, not diesel

So unlock/open passenger door, reach over to release hood, disconnect batteries then call tow truck. How bad are things with DEF in the fuel with a DCR pump?

Is this a clutch on a Toro Timemaster?

Well this is for personal use. I bought it used so it's had some use. Anything more than a basic lawn mower (engine & blade) will need some maintenance. Not sure it's geared for professionals. But I would argue it's the best mower of its type that Home Depot or Lowe's sells.

    Schematic for boat bow thruster

Wires 1-4 on the joystick and bow thruster use a 4-pin connector so they always get connected properly. The gray wire #5 is just an insulated female spade connector. But wire #5 on new joysticks provides -12V when the joystick is powered up. That's my point old joysticks use to provide +12V...

    Schematic for boat bow thruster

So it has nothing to with controlling the bow thruster right or left. You can use the bow thruster without the solenoid on the left side. Just need a manual battery switch. The "accessory" wire on the right side of the joystick would not be used in that case. In the case of a solenoid vs...

    Bearing retaining compound

So I was told to use a bearing retaining compound for a bearing in the raw water pump of 300 HP boat engine. It's between 1.5" and 2" OD. Like ice cream, many flavors to choose from. Bearing gets pressed in so not sure why it's needed. Six flavors in the 600 range from this company...

Should I preemptively replace my wheel bearings, axle u joints, and ball joints?

I would say no unless excessive wear has been detected. You may not be able to fully check all the suspension components unless it's on a lift with the weight off the vehicle. Maybe sway bar bushing would be a candidate to get replaced due to miles on vehicle.
