    Universal HVAC Capacitor

So, my neighborhood is right at 10 years old. AC caps are starting to go. A lot of people know I can change them out, so have done a few in last couple years. I use the AMRAD (made in USA) 70 + 10 uF. All the units in my neighborhood use these. https://a.co/d/dlLcZh8 $56.90 each, but they...

Wear indicators on front pads 2019 Santa Fe

Thanks. His rotors look nice and shiny and smooth. No issues at all. I'm going to pull them this weekend and do a run-out on rotor then a pad slap. Putting on Bosch quiet-cast.

Wear indicators on front pads 2019 Santa Fe

Could be. Not sure if the pas are OEM or not. The rear were OEM (originals.) Not sure about the front. If they did change them out at some point, maybe they didn't have wear indictors. I'll find out this weekend. If I pull out the pads and they have a lot more than 1mm, he and I are gonna...

Wear indicators on front pads 2019 Santa Fe

Hi all, So, my son just had new tires put on his 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe (2.4L.) We just did the rear pads/rotors in March 2025, so I told him to have them check the fronts while they had the tires off. They called and said there is only like 1MM of pad left. Don't they have wear indicators...

Bought my son his first car: 2006 G35X sedan. Questions...

@SC Maintenance covered it, but I would add a good underside check and brake check (since you're in a salt belt area.) Does your friend have a maintenance log, recipts, etc. for the maintenance that was performed and when?

Yup! Experienced the same. Contract customers get a smaller mark-up, but man...the mark-up can be crazy.

    Wooden stock wax/oil

My dad has always used Boiled Linnseed oil and a buff with some paste wax. Not sure how common that is, but his wooden stock firearms look amazing.

    HVAC Woes

I would call another company and get another opinion. Unless there is some sort of craziness going on with your setup, shouldn't cost $2K to change out an expansion valve.

    Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 or Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 | 3.5 EcoBoost

Smooth, until you detour onto one of the pig trails. He's from Arkansas. What else would you call it? :) Sorry, went to Texas A&M, have a soft spot for all SEC schools.

    Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 or Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 | 3.5 EcoBoost

In Arkansas, 90% hogway driving, and 5K OCI? Zero difference. Get whatevers cheapest, but probably same price. 0W may have a better base oil (or some additional stuff as pointed out above) but since you're dumping it every 5K, probably won't make any difference.

Stanley Bailey #4 smoothing bench plane

Hi all. Have any of you dabbled in wood working (hand.) Always wanted to play around with it and found a Stanley #4 bench plane. Got it for a great price ($35.) My concern is on refurbing it. I know the goal is to make the bottom (sole) flat. This appears to have some gouges in it. Like...
