One use tools that just sit around

BMW M54 fan clutch wrench/pulley holder. Tight area to fit an adjustable wrench, uncommon size in rent-a-tool kits. Makes majority of engine work way easier and so I can speedrun waterpumps in record time.

    how to clean PCV Valve?

Carb cleaner in an aerosol can. If you don't mind waiting overnight Berryman makes this really nasty caustic parts cleaner called Chem-Dip carb parts cleaner. I don't like dealing with chemicals so I replace them with an OEM valve if available.

AGM battery on a non AGM car?

Some yota guys do a diode mod that replaces the 7.5A ALT-S to up the charging voltage. Installed a voltagebooster pro to my 01 Tundra that ups the charging voltage .5v higher. 14.8V cold 14.2V hot.

What are you working on today?

02 Silverado rear brake caliper inspection and lube. Lubed pins and contact points with Permatex Orange Silicone grease. One of the pads looked thinner than the rest so I used a gauge to find the pad thickness. Thinnest is 5mm thick. Tool used: NAPA SER 3962

    New tool thread

I scoff at social media influencer tool brands but found this at Costco with the asterisk of death. At least it takes 1/4” bits so I can use it with another brands bit set.

Checking the fluids on a U-Haul to help some relatives moving. Not touching my stash so used the 'bulk oil 4 junks' bulk oil I took from the bulk oil can at work. Ass-Haul. 6.8L V10 in all its glory in this 2013 Ford Econoline cutaway van-chassis, like the POS 1997 E-450 20' I rented 15 years...

Rockin' the red in the wheelwells. Installed JBA Offroad upper control arms in the 01 Tundra. Did one side yesterday. These control arms have built-in 3 degrees of caster to help stay centered at freeway driving when lifting or leveling the front suspension. Doing the other side today...

New rear wheel bearings 08 Tundra...

Sealed wheel bearing pressed onto the axle shaft. Special service tools and a shop press needed to replace the bearings. Have an 01 Tundra with 204,000mi on the original rear axle bearings and starting to hear roaring noise at rear at high speeds. Will be bringing it to a shop to save my sanity lol.

What are you working on today?

Kept burning horn fuses so I checked horn wiring. No shorts or breaks in the wiring after using a DMM to probe horn wiring harness and fusebox so need to physically check horns. Signs of water ingestion in the High Tone horn. The right-side horn opening was pointing up towards the rear of the...

What’s your “sweet spot” for used car purchases?

Less than 5 years old and 60,000mi. Non-pilau single owner. Oh yeah I judge appearances. Not parked along the coast/beach vehicle Ongoing 'fuel crisis' if buying a truck. That's how we bought our 01 Tundra. Original owner can't stomach the $4 gas and needed a truck to replace a 30 y/o mini...

It's been decades since I've seen a car battery with an 'eye'. Kinda pointless on an 'maintenance-free' battery.

They also come under the Altrom name if you buy them at NAPA. Got 555 Sankei lower and upper ball joints on my 2001 Toyota Tundra with no issues.

What are you doing right now?

If I have extremely nothing to do I assemble figure kits. Bought this 8 years ago, just never bothered to put it together until now. So many small bits and pieces since this is an articulating figure vs fixed pose figures with less parts. Tool used: Carlyle flush cut pliers.

What are you working on today?

My bad I was talking about the issues the 3rd Gen Tundra has that some owners rather spend money fixing up an older truck than buying a new one.

What are you working on today?

Sunk cost fallacy especially how bad the 3rd gens are. continues dumping money into my 1st gen by doing unnecessary preventative maintenance
