I've got a 1990 C1500 with the same engine and similar mileage , I run 15w40 in mine. Hot oil pressure on mine at idle is around 46 psi and around 70 psi at highway speed based on a mechanical gauge and not the 35 yr old factory gauge.
No idea. I'm not sure this engine is original to the mower , but it runs great powering a 42in deck. I haven't done anything to it other than an oil change and cleaned the air filter.
Spark plugs , starter , thermostat , coolant , fuel filter , serpentine belt , and pcv for my friend's 01 Taurus. May have the opportunity to buy the car for cheap.
Would Napa SB 20w50 be ok ? My local Napa has it on sale for $17.50 plus tax for 5qts until the end of the month. And is there a replacement filter that doesn't cost a small fortune ? Would a automotive engine oil filter work ?
Finally got a look and it has Hydrogear ZT2800 transmissions. I noticed each still has a factory installed spin on filter. What would be a suitable alternative filter ? And what is the correct way to refill with oil ?
I presume the filter is located on the bottom of the housing on the fan side where the circular piece with what appears to be two fasteners holding it on ? Provided mine is the same as the one you shown in the picture.
I'll raise the rear of the mower and look for a filter later today. I didn't know it could possibly have filtration. The oil in it now looks like a frothy pistachio green color. It's not currently having any problems but the current oil doesn't look right.
Is there anything special about Exmark Hydro Oil ? I'm wondering if a 15w40 would work since this mower sees light usage and I tend to keep it in bulk. I bought it non running for cheap due to wiring issues.
