    Drill Press Belt

Old belt is a Gates 1340 - which seems to be 3L340 belt. It's obviously non critical to change and also easy enough to change. Any reason not to get the cheap generic belt off eBay for $4.26, or should I get a Dayco 3L340 off rock Auto for $7.01??? Is the Dayco belt made in USA or anything...

How do I fix this broken air compressor handle?

This is a HF air compressor. The handle is made of cheap plastic and of course broke: Here is a close up: I doubt that I could get a new handle if I wanted to. I'd like to replace with something metal. Got any suggestions? If it matters, I do have a conduit bender, but I don't see making...

Paint coming off inside a transmission pan

Car in question is a 1995 Ford Escort LX with 262K on it's original automatic transmission. The filter is a fine mesh type that seems to have caught the paint. The remaining paint was relatively easy to remove.

Anyone here using a AGM battery for their mower

It would seem to me that using something that sits all winter should have an AGM battery, so you don't have to keep in on a charger for extended periods on non use. Unless I am missing something obvious here??? If it matters for my application I am using a U1 type battery.

Rats ate some stuff in my engine bay

On my 1999 V6 Alero. Damage seems to be to my battery (group75DT), the insulating thing around the battery, the washer fluid reservoir cap, and the washer fluid reservoir itself. I am not planning on replacing the battery insulator, and I think the damage to the washer fluid reservoir is minor...

    Brake caliper sliding part.

Relubed the pins December 2017 (was locked before). Checked it a week ago and the caliper moved, but took considerable effort. My question is how easy should it be to make the moving part of the caliper slide back and forth? I know a bunch of youtube videos show it moving easily, but that's...

How do I determine the OE brake pad material?

For a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero with the V6 engine and 4 wheel disk brakes. Internet listings on placse like Rock Auto I know state what type of pads, but I also know that the information there is wrong. My best guess is that the OE pads ceramic front pads and organic rear pads, but that is just...

    Fix A/C in the winter?

I have an A/C hose that I would like to replace, but I wonder if I should bother since I won't be using the A/C until maybe May. I don't normally even use the car in the winter, but where I work you need to use your vacation by the end of the year, or lose it. So should I do this now, while I...

Friends car as a Purolator classic filter on it that has something like 12,000 miles on it (I know because I installed it). Anyway, I don't normally do cut and post, but since this one is bound to be the proverbial train wreck, it might be amusing to do so. My question is how can I cut this...
