The modern collector car market, and cars that are victim of said market

Acquired a mint-ish 1999 SC400 a few months ago with 122k miles. All stock. Has the heated seats option :) Will be a garage queen, only change planned is some less blingy 17" early IS300 wheels. (Will store the chrome wheels)

Cannot unscrew oil filter housing cap - BMW E46

Sorry guys - been out of town and dealing with a maddening work schedule. Waiting for the 3/8 breaker bar to arrive from amazon, and gather a few more tools before re-attempt. HOPE to try it this weekend and update. Keep rooting for me and the filter housing cap. That's so kind of you guys.

Cannot unscrew oil filter housing cap - BMW E46

Good point - I also thought it felt silly and bouncy with the rubber mallet - will use a proper hammer and update after my next attempt. Thanks, Trav

Dead rechargeable batteries on cordless drill

It's a Hitachi cordless drill and neither battery would recharge. No charging indicator on the in-wall charger. They have been sitting unused for a while. I have seen videos of people charging a dead battery with ANOTHER working battery but in my case BOTH are dead and won't recharge... Can I...

Cannot unscrew oil filter housing cap - BMW E46

Well it's been only 900 miles but several months - I do have the correct oil in it now because I was able to change the oil out. And I really can't PROVE that they were the ones who did it although I know they did. I might take it to them (if i can't get it off) when it's time for regular OC...

Cannot unscrew oil filter housing cap - BMW E46

Will try soon again. I think most of my fear is re: the housing itself. Perhaps I should wait until I have a spare filter cap.... Yeah I need to get some new wrenches of differing lengths - been thinking I need to do that anyway.

Cannot unscrew oil filter housing cap - BMW E46

So like I stated in a separate thread, I had my last OC done at the dealer on my 2005 E46 and they put the incorrect oil (0w/30 FE) and I decided to change it myself. (I usually do OCs myself on this car but once in while I do take it to dealer when i have a coupon). This E46 has the oil filter...

    Post your latest oil change

After the dealer put in 0w/30 FE oil (wrong for 2005 E46) i just did a mityvac OC today using Edge 0w/40. Stupid dealer had also OVERTIGHTNENED the oil filler cap and i just could not get it off no matter how hard i tried; didn't wanna damage anything so I just gave up (never had any trouble...

    Trim Restorer

WOW That's nice. Guess I am gonna have to try this stuff for my 2010 Escape. The step bars, cowl and the rear bumper pad look like your "before" cowl. Did you "seal" the refreshed area after detailing for extra protection with some wax or some other product?

    Facebook Marketplace

I have bought and sold on FM Market Place. But all transactions were with people I already knew via FB and in person. No experience yet with "non-friend" buyers/sellers... I imagine it's similar to Craigslist.

    Check Sunroof Drain Tubes periodically

I say weed trimmer 0.095 weed trimmer line (about $6 at Lowe's) or if you need something a bit thicker: Speedometer cable (with non-terminated ends; if you get a "kit" from AZ or AA you can get that, it's about $6). I have read some use "fishing line" but i have no clue which one to get - I just...

    Anyone use Motorcraft's quick struts?

Interesting - and GLAD to see they make them for the 2010 Escape / Mariner ! Thanks for the find. Who knows? I might need them someday; the Escape is at 86k miles right now.
