2021 Subaru Crosstrek 6MT transmission and differential oil

I need to change the transmission and differential oil in my 2021 Crosstrek with a 6 speed manual transmission. It looks like Redline 75w90NS is the fluid to use for the transmission. Since the Crosstrek has an open rear differential, would the 75w90NS be a better fluid than their regular 75W90...

    Inch-lb Torque Wrench

I would use a 0-60 or 0-80 in/lbs 1/4" drive beam type torque wrench. Amazon has a ARES 70213 and a Neiko 03727A for about $21. There are also USA made versions of the 0-60 in/lbs beam torque wrenches for more money. Depends on how much you want to spend.

Coolant leak parked in the cold

I replaced the radiator in my Mazda Protege a while back. It initially would only leak on cold days when the temp was below about 15F, then after a couple years it started to leak even on warm days. The leak was were the aluminum core was attached to the plastic side tanks.

    Denso radiator still good?

I put a Denso in my Mazda about a year ago. It was made in either China or Taiwan, I can't remember which. It appeared to be of good quality and a perfect fit. I have not had any problems with it and would not hesitate to buy another one.

    Toyota ignition coil questions

I agree with the others who said they would not change the coils. I have never had a Japanese coil fail in my small sample of 3 Toyotas and 1 Mazda, all with over 200,000 miles on them. If this were a BMW however, I would carry a spare coil. I have had 2 of 6 coils go bad in only 130,000 miles...

    Aftermarket Denso Radiators

I put in a Denso radiator in my Mazda Protege a couple months ago. It was either from China or Taiwan, I don't remember which. It was very good quality, especially for the price point. I would not hesitate to use another.

    A/C System R134a

I was in a similar situation a couple years ago with my '99 Mazda. I didn't want to put much time or money into a car that old. Many cars that are over 15 years old have leaked enough refrigerant that the AC system does not work so well. I just bought a manifold set and a thermometer. I watched...

Coolant in oil... Can't find source

Update: I pulled the head last week. The gasket had a couple areas where the fire ring was starting to separate, but it didn't look bad enough to cause coolant to get into the oil. The head was also not warped. I had it pressure tested at the machine shop and it passed. They then milled it to...

Anyone bought any Denso air filters lately?

My air filters arrived a couple days ago. Both of them were made in China. The one for my Highlander looked just like the USA made one, only the markings were different. I could not tell them apart other than the part numbers and markings. The one for the Protege had a thinner rubber seal...

Do you normally need or use a filter wrench?

I tighten by hand but often use a filter wrench to loosen it. I use a Lisle 63600 oil filter wrench which works on many sizes.
