    Transit 15k OCI

I have one being delivered at some point in the late Spring, early Summer. I'll see if I can get some good comparison shots with my older model years.

Mechanic won’t use the oil I’ve chosen *update*

Are you trying to compare an E-Series to a mid-roof Transit? Considering the base MSRP of the E-Series is about 16K lower than the transits we use, I don't think there's a valid comparison here. What you're probably not realizing is our upfits and tools that we use are very high end and trade...

    Reasons to NOT Use Synthetic?

I should also mention that 3 weeks later, he burned that car to the ground trying to do his own electrical work in the engine bay. He insisted the 110 octane fuel he was using burned hotter than "normal fuel" ("white hot" were his words) and the car wouldn't have burned down completely if he'd...

    Reasons to NOT Use Synthetic?

One of my former employees had a '94 Mustang that he dumped over $12K into. He also said he never used synthetic. His reason was that the "synthetic" part of the oil would "fall out" and "separate" from the base oil because of his super high HP engine (~600hp at the wheels on a dyno). Amused, I...

    Post your latest oil change

Coincidentally, I changed it out today. Still not planning on running it again. Todays oil changes - all 3 were fleet vehicles again: 2015 Ford Transit 250, 3.7L V6 OUT: Triax Synergy SRT 5w-20, Motorcraft FL-500S (7,230 miles) IN: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-20, Motorcraft FL-500S 2015 Ford...

    Time vs. distance

That's interesting if that's your experience. I've never seen any differentiation in my fleet. I have Transit 250s, F150s, and Transit Connects that definitely fit under the severe, if not the extreme, definitions from the manual and they all have OLMs that go off at 10K on the dot.

2018 Ford Explorer 3.5L (NA) - 46,809mi on engine, unknown miles on oil Out: presumably Motorcraft 5w-20 Blend, Motorcraft FL-500S In: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-20, Fram TG10575 Planned 8-10K OCI with a UOA at the end.

    Conventional oil difficult to find!

According to their site, all Pennzoil is either a synthetic blend or full synthetic now, regardless of viscosity grade. They still say "conventional" in the navigation menu, but that's probably for people like the OP who don't necessarily realize that anything meeting current API specs is going...

    Mobil1 0w-40 SuperSyn - 10200km / 9 years OCI!

You'd probably hook a lot of people with a thread title like that here.

    2016 Ford Taurus - 3.5L V6 (NA) - Quaker State 5w-20 - 6,197 miles

Thanks! I'll give that a try next UOA. Maybe I'll do a Blackstone and a Polaris on the same one and compare...

    2018 Ford F150 - 2.7L V6 EcoBoost - Castrol Edge 5w-30 - 6,500 miles

I'd say I haven't had any problems with them at all, but I don't want to jinx myself.

    2015 Ford Transit 250 - 3.7L V6 - Castrol GTX Ultraclean 5w-20 - 6,243 miles

I'd agree. I'm considering revamping the service schedules to accommodate at least an 8K, if not 10K miles OCI for all of the 3.7Ls in my fleet. If I can nearly double the current interval, I'd be halving the average annual cost. Cost of an oil change is not really significant, but over the...

    2016 Ford Taurus - 3.5L V6 (NA) - Quaker State 5w-20 - 6,197 miles

That's good advice. I have had to tell many customers when something breaks and they say, "It hasn't been broken for 10 years!" that everything has a moment at which it is good prior to that moment and bad after that moment. Any recommendations on a lab to use for true fuel dilution numbers?

    2016 Ford Taurus - 3.5L V6 (NA) - Quaker State 5w-20 - 6,197 miles

This car was driven at 75mph for 35 min straight on the highway before the oil change.

    2016 Ford Taurus - 3.5L V6 (NA) - Quaker State 5w-20 - 6,197 miles

What used to be QSAD dino but is now seemingly just "Quaker State Synthetic Blend".

    2015 Ford Transit 250 - 3.7L V6 - Castrol GTX Ultraclean 5w-20 - 6,243 miles

Nothing unusual for this fleet vehicle. I'd say around 6-7K miles for these engines is pretty good.

    2016 Ford Taurus - 3.5L V6 (NA) - Quaker State 5w-20 - 6,197 miles

Nothing unusual or surprising. Not thrilled about the flash point. Interesting to see essentially identical viscosities and TBN between the two UOAs. The previous one was Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage 0w-20.

    2018 Ford F150 - 2.7L V6 EcoBoost - Castrol Edge 5w-30 - 6,500 miles

Nothing surprising here. Everything looked pretty good to me on this fleet truck.
