    Is this rumor true?

Pictures of some of my oil stash... notice the "slant" to the lettering on the bottle, where the "made in Germany" is located. And the bottom date mark. And the bottom date: Yes.. you do have the GC "Gold" formula with the "European" label... I have forseen it.

    Small Ford diesel car?

Yep, my friend would buy diesel for his car and sometimes would have to change out the diesel before he used it all up in the tank so it wouldn't become stale. It made such good fuel mielage on diesel, he would always take along a quart of diesel on long vacations, "just in case".

    Another question about synthetics...

No such thing as too big a battery, too big a gas tank or a horn too loud.

    must see oil filter comparo!

This site, for the most part is 100% opinion. If I were a judge presiding a case with "these" witnesses (ME included) I'd throw out the testimony as heresay evidence. Ekpolk an active Marine and lawyer has the best information and most of it is not about oil but about what's right or not right.

    10W-30 vs 15W-40

10W-30/30 AMSOIL should be an excellent oil for diesel use. Doesn't matter if it's 105 F as long as it's 30 for the top end number it should do fine. Last I knew that was what it meant 10 (Winter)- (to) 30 Weight viscosity.

Group I better than Group IV??

Don't forget the strain it though a kitchen strainer first and get out the clods of dirt. Let the filters do the rest! LOL

    Does it really matter???

That's entierly true. dam the torpedo .. Full speed ahead!! I long for a good fight. I'd buy a new car and put Amsoil or GC in there after 1,000 miles and a bypass filter and let the rest go. Put on 150,000 miles and then THINK about changing the oil.. stealership jerks!!

    Thirty IS thirty, right....??

Yea... things like wire harneses (and others) are a little crisp at that temp. You also don't want to stand there making little yellow designs in the snow either or you can get frostbite where you really don't want frostbite!!

    Oilguard owners take note.

Too bad there is not a cheap way to take a sample directly from your bypass filter and have it check for contaminant levels! I have a lab centrifuge, but I don't think centrifuging oil will really show me any results for particle counts, etc. So it is not a "do-it-yourself" type of test. Most...

2006 Dodge Diesel Need Help On By Pass Filter !

What an interesting thread! In all your figuring above you both keep tackling about changing oil at $2.00 / quart. I'm personally a synthetic guy, so that figure is closer to $6.00 quart. I also am not saying that TP is not a good filtration system. I am just saying that I like the benefit of...

    Thirty IS thirty, right....??

Back in the late 1980's I was living in Lewellen Nebraska and working as a Sheriff. It was winter and we were told it was going to be VERY cold in the mid -40F or so. I set out 3 bottles of oil. Havoline 10W-30, Pennzoil 10W-30 and Amsoil 10W-30 on the back steps. I got up and it was -50 F on...

    Small Ford diesel car?

Welcome CorviarGeek!! My neighbor has a VW Golf with a diesel and I would think you would not want a fuel efficient diesel to be too large for mid sized cars. Were they ever made in the 3.8 L size and smaller? We have a few of the Ford 1900 tractors with a 3 cylinder diesel. Really odd looking...

Synthetic for Cummins turbo diesel BEI Harvester?

Well, My thought is leaning toward the Amsoil 10W-30/30W Heavy Duty Diesel. Imagine an engine that runs from mid August to mid October (avg), and intermittently ie not every day. Imagine it's cool in the mid 30 F to 55 F in that range. Now put it up for all winter and summer. I think the Amsoil...

2006 Dodge Diesel Need Help On By Pass Filter !

0.1µ is an excellent micron rating. Our Clariflow membrane filters (we have also used Pall), filter the wine on the final moment before going into the bottle filler at 0.45µ We consider it a "Sterile" filter, and as such is steam autoclaved for 20 minutes before being mounted in a steamed...
