    Overheated engine...need to change oil?

Before you answer, consider this: I had just changed the oil and had about 30 miles on the oil before the alternator/water pump belt snapped. Hot enough for the coolant to spit up out of the overflow bottle and lost about a cup of coolant. Engine shows no ill signs, oil is 5W-30 Pennzoil...

Synthetic Oil Weight for '92 Volvo 940 Turbo?

I have a recently purchased '93 Volvo 940 Turbo. Yes, the year in the subject is different. The original owner went through two engines, the first was replaced under warranty by Volvo, the second was a junkyard pull from a '92 740. The wonder of Volvo plastic-tanked radiators. Now the '92 B230FT...

    Old oil problem.

Well that makes me feel a little better. I am fairly certain that the used oil in this particular container is just from the car in question (a '96 Miata) and a '96 Subaru Outback. It had been sitting for awhile, and I just slightly tilted (no funnel and just topping off the oil in the engine)...

    Old oil problem.

I've got a bit of a dilemma right now, and I'm not quite sure how to handle this. My wife woke me up early this morning telling me the car wouldn't start. I sent her off to work in my car, and fixed hers. I checked the oil in her car as I was finishing up, and noticed it was a little low. We've...

    Readily Available Non-Lithium Grease?

Thanks for the information. I live in an area that doesn't have any bike stores whatsoever, but we do have quite a lot of auto parts stores. I don't like special ordering things, so I am trying to find a locally available grease. The John Deere grease will help because there is a JD dealership...

    Readily Available Non-Lithium Grease?

That is great news, as I already have a tube of the stuff. I use it for brake caliper slides. Thank you both very much.

    Readily Available Non-Lithium Grease?

I am trying to re-grease a set of RST front shocks for a bicycle. They have elastomer inserts that require the use of non-lithium grease. I am looking for a readily available (such as parts store, farm store, etc.) non-lithium grease to use to re-pack these shocks. I am surrounded by quite a few...

    Coastal 75w-90 vs. Castrol Hypoy-C

I was looking for a 75w-90 gear oil to do a flush on my '96 Subaru Outback before swtiching to synthetic. Now, normally I would just switch but this transmission had recently been split apart for a re-seal. Subaru manual transmissions have a center differential inside the transmission case and...

    Whats too cold for 15w-40?

Thanks for posting this question. I use Delo 400 in my '77 T-Bird and I'm driving it during this cold snap here in Texas. It was 17F last night, and forecasted to drop to 12F tomorrow night. Right now it is 21F.

    300 miles into MMO treatment

I tried two bottles of Auto-RX to quiet HLA ticking during start-up in a Miata, no such luck.

    Ended second rinse too early.

Thanks to my fine public education, I ended the second Auto-RX rinse 200 miles too early. I drained the rinse oil and now have 0W-40 Mobil 1 along with a new filter. This was my last application, should I order and start another one?

Initial Auto-RX Dose and Oil Change

I'm about to treat my '96 Mazda Miata with 145,000 miles to two treatments of Auto-RX. I am right at the point where I need to change the oil and I usually use Mobil 1 0W-40. I've already planned to use Chevron Supreme for the rinse phase, but should I go ahead and use it for the initial dose...

    GM 3.1 V6 picture

And I'll second this notion. They were plagued by a poor lineup that didn't meet the times. And when they did something about it, they shot ahead of the times. The Eagle 4WD cars and wagons were oddities back then, but now Subaru doesn't sell a car without AWD. I will disagree that the Pacer...

The Hemi in the new Chrysler 300C gets 5w20!

Are you basing that statement on age? In so, OHCs are older than pushrods.

How far east have people seen the Mobil 1 SUV oil?

I was about to ask this myself, only if anybody has seen M1 SUV in North Texas around D/FW.
