anyone have a UOA that the lab said the oil was actually due for a change?

I sent a sample to Blackstone, & an identical sample to AGAT labs. Blackstone said it was good, & extend my OCI. AGAT flagged it for Lower Reportable levels of Boron, & 3.0% Fuel dilution, where Blackstone said there was no fuel dilution. I believe AGAT flags it if the additive depleteion...

    New Wrangler 3.0 EcoDiesel Oil

is this the 2020 model? In the oil information for the 2018 models they recommended Rotella T6. FCA MS-10902, API CJ-4. Did they change their oil recommendations for the new models? Did they change specs to the older 2nd gen. engines too? My father had an engine fail due to spun bearings I...

    2017 Tundra; Mobil 1 0w-20 9.7k mi

Is that the oil weight they call for? Molybdenum levels can also be from wear on piston rings. The upper piston ring may have a moly coating. Are you getting enough upper cylinder lubrication with a lighter weight oil?

    Castrol Magnatec GTX 5W-30, 8656 km, '18 F150 3.5 EcoBoost

Recently sent another oil analysis after running 2 OCI with Castrol Maganatec. No huge noticeable differences, Iron is down on a little longer OCI. Boron depletion, & Fuel Dilution were flagged at Lower Critical. Viscosity was within range on last 2 samples submitted, & they didn't do a GC Fuel...

Pennzoil..How long does it take for additives to fall out?

I have noticed the same material in the bottom after an oil change. Now I am sure to shake up the jugs to ensure I am getting the additive pack back in suspension. Makes me wonder if they have some agitation in the bulk oil drums in the oil change shops, & dealerships to keep additives in...

    Rear pinion seal leak

Yes, I was just going to purchase a liter of oil & top it off, keeping an eye on it. I checked the oil when it was new at the first engine oil change, & yes, they are filled to 1/4 inch below threads. The oil came to $47.00/ liter. I just decided to book it in for service. Warranty will...

    Rear pinion seal leak

I own a 2018 F150 with 73000 kilometers, (about 45,000 miles). I noticed that the rear diff is leaking from the pinion seal. I removed the plug to check the level, & might be a little low, maybe 1/2 inch below threads, but there was also a good coating of fine metallic sludge stuck to the...

    Need a New Frig

If its still working I wouldn't replace it. Even repair it if its giving issues. I have an older bottom mount freezer about 18 years old. It recently started freezing vegetables in the crisper, & couldn't control the temperature in the refrigerator. I had to do a manual defrost by transfering...

    First Oil Change

I changed oil in my new 2018 F150 3.5 Ecoboost at an early interval, & sent 3 consecutive oil samples for analysis. I had a fuel dilution issue and was monitoring that. it took about 3 oil changes before the wear metals leveled out. 1st oil change at 3900 KM or about 2400 miles, 2nd at 8000, 3rd...

    Eco Diesel failure

I think they told him it was a main bearing. Sounds like they already got an engine on order, but they are apparently on backorder, & don't know how long before it will come in. He was pulling a light duty trailer with 2 ATV's on it, & engine started to make noise, & just died. Said there was...

    Eco Diesel failure

My Fathers 2018 Dodge ecodiesel engine failed on him. He purchased the truck new, & he is 77. He has only got about 32,000 kilometers on it, or less than 20000 miles. I am not sure which oil he was using in it. Oil changes were being done in a local garage, but I believe he was supplying the...

Photo showing oil pan off and position of dipstick.

Is that a top level hole in the dipstick? Looks like upper level is just below the joint where the pan bolts to engine? Hard to tell with photo where the max oil level is. Also why is the pan off? Rebuild time?

charge 12v truck battery with more or less amps?

I am not sure the difference between charging but there is a setting for AGM batteries too. Charges to 14.5 Volt for regular, 14.8 for AGM. I am unsure if it will damage a regular battery if it is set on an AGM setting or if it would make any difference. The NOCO chargers seem to work good in...

    Well question

looks more like a cistern or septic tank than a well. usually older large bore wells were cased with a galvanized metal casing (similar to culverts) or wood if much older. are you able to pull the lid off and drop a weighted rope to find how deep it is?

    Grease gun woes!

If you don't know how to purge the air when changing grease in a manual grease gun, you will have the same problems with electric grease gun. When adding a new tube to a manual grease gun, I lock the spring loaded plunger back insert the tube remove the pull tab, & only screw the tube back onto...

Is there any Blue Jeans that can beat the Wrangler 47MWZ?

I still like the wrangler 13MWZPW boot cut. wearing 30X32, & 31X32. 30's have started to get a little bit too tight. Have recently started wearing the 47MWZPW, in a 31 waist. The front pockets feel bigger or deeper. They sometimes feel loose in the waist, if doing a lot of bending, and...
