Brand won't make any difference with fuel dilution. The only way to help mitigate that is with a higher grade or very frequent OCI. A better suggestion would be to have the oil tested by a different laboratory that can find out the actual cause of the viscosity deviation.

Honda J series Timing Belt/Water Pump OE parts pics.

The one time I didn’t change out those pulleys during a timing belt change the pulley started to fail about 6 months later.

At least I can add this thread to my next list when the topic comes up yet again.

PUP on WM shelves but no PP

Pennzoil Euro L has a dexos license and is also available at Walmart. Arguably the best Pennzoil product on the shelf with the approvals it has.

I’m on a different unlimited plan and so far no rate increase notification. Is the increase supposedly across the board?

You just made a good argument as to why the ear is unreliable at making sound pressure determinations.

The problem is that with the method Blackstone uses to estimate fuel dilution you never know what the cause is behind a viscosity deviation. If it's fuel dilution (which is likely) then the oil brand is mostly irrelevant, if thats what's letting you down. Blackstone is incapable of...

I don't buy any of that for one second.

    V100 viscosity discrepancies

The method is critical. Even a certified lab may use the ASTM method of estimating fuel based on flash point unless you're paying for a direct measurement such as gas chromatography. Flash point measurement has an inherently variable reproducibility and then when used to estimate fuel dilution...

    Engine Noise And Oil Brand

The part I struggle with is the idea that someone is able to remember what the oil sounded like at the beginning of the previous OC and then compare that against the new oil. I certainly believe that new, cold oil is quieter than the warm old oil you just drained, but to make an accurate...

    V100 viscosity discrepancies

Which laboratory are you using and by what method is fuel dilution being measured? Post the actual analysis please. Jetronic is making a good point above about typical values. Some blenders only report the limits of a license or approval not even test values. Which oil is this? Which vehicle?

Amsoil 15W-50 Small Engine Oil - VOA

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what is being presented both in that analysis and in the article you link. The article is pointing out that there can be structural changes in the molecules that may make a compound less effective, and those changes can be seen both in NMR and FTIR...

Amsoil 15W-50 Small Engine Oil - VOA

Flamed? You made an incorrect statement. You said that the UOA did not show all the zinc and phosphorus. That’s incorrect as a spectrographic analysis will show all elements regardless of the compound. And there aren’t “different kinds of zinc” either. There may be different zinc compounds, but...

    Engine Noise And Oil Brand

A pretty popular topic here on Bitog. Perhaps some of these existing threads will help, there was a recent long thread on this very topic. Perhaps it's in the list: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/engine-noise-any-indication-of-oil-quality.368413/...
