Any Others Start Off At A Gas Station?

Not a gas station per se but a mechanical repair / tire shop. I did tires, batteries, lube jobs and parts for the mechanics etc. That was high school and I made enough money there to buy my first 2 muscle cars and operate them. From there I went to a speed shop selling high performance...

First oil filter you ever bought

1982 - Canadian Tire branded filter (Motomaster) 17-1728 (BOP AC PF-24 equivalent) for my 1970 Pontiac. I also bought their house branded oil as well "back in the day".

    0w oils?

Yes. In all my OPE engines (past and present, summer or winter, severe duty or light duty) I use 0w30 where 5w30, 10w30 or 30 is called for. Significantly easier to start at all temperatures which matters, to me, with pull starters. Some of my equipment is 30+ years old and still running fine...

Favorite battery powered lawn mower that’s very reliable ?

I have a Kobalt 20" 40V 3 in 1 that I bought from Lowes a few years ago. I really like it, the best feature is how smooth and quiet it is. It came with 2 batteries which is more than enough to do my lawn (about 3000 sq. ft.). I swap the first battery out before it dies and I use maybe 25% of the...

What Year Did you Start Using Synthetic Motor Oil?

2001 - Brand new TDI Jetta, factory fill then Delvac 0w40 every 16,000 kms until I sold it in 2007 250,000 kms on it, still in perfect condition. As someone mentioned above, the price delta is pretty small now (sales plus rebates) so I use synthetic in everything now whether it is required or...

    Shipping Preformed Brake Lines

I am not sure if this is helpful, I try not to post generally if it isn't, but I have restored several American muscle cars in my lifetime and always have done new full length lines on these restored cars. The brake line manufacturer ships the preformed terminated lines carefully rolled up in...

    Best hose clamp

I agree and prefer constant tension as well, however if someone wants a top quality properly designed screw / gear clamp these are the best. https://www.wurthusa.com/Service-and-Repair-Parts/Clamps/Zebra/c/200215

    GL-4 in differential?

The 1968 Pontiac Service Manual references "Hypoid" gear oil (page 4A-23), which is the GL5 extreme pressure required for the high pressure "wiping" characteristics of hypoid gears. The service manual for the 1970 Buick Gran Sport (same 8.2" BOP differential) provides a little more information...

Does a ""hot" coil make a difference with points?

You ask if you will gain anything I presume you are asking about gaining reliability and not performance given your "coil went out" statement. The issue you are facing is poor quality coils made today. The epoxy filled coils simply aren't as good...

    Clutch diameter differences

We need to be clear on a few points. The examples above and my own personal example I will give you below are cases where the flywheel is the exact same one, it is simply dual drilled. My 70 GTO (RAIV) came with a 10.4" clutch from the factory but the flywheel was drilled to accept the larger...

Car Ramps for low profile cars

Already mentioned and I agree, Race Ramps are what I use. I used to have a 2011 Shelby GT500 (quite low clearance) and they were perfect for that car. I got them from Costco online, that was the best deal.
