Had a set of PE2s on my old Passat. Loved them. Aren't these being phased out?

I got 20k out of them on my '97 Passat - not great, but not bad for the category.

The Exalto PE2 is a great summer tire. Comfortable, quiet, sticks like glue in the dry, and nearly as well in the wet. Compound is fairly soft (par for the course for a decent summer tire), but this really is a terrific tire. I ran a set on my '97 Passat and loved them. Good price.

The Voll Synthese (0/40, 5/40) are Group IV/V oils. Decent quality stuff. There are some UOA's kicking around.

Did you every do any UOAs on either vehicle? Also, when you mentioned no visual abnormalities of the filter, did you cut them open?

I'm trying to find a non-boutique oil that does a good job. It'll either be: Lubro Moly Voll Synthese 5W/40 Mobil 1 T&SUV 5W/40 or Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W/40 I can get all of these locally at decent prices.
