Crown Victoria named 'best cop car of all time'

Crown Vics were great for the times, but IMO overrated today. I like them, but they weren't anything all that special in my experience. Once GM abandoned the BOF category, Ford had the market to itself for the most part. The Caprice was great for its time too, especially the LT1s. They were...

Oil Spray on Vehicle with Noxudol

Just to clarify, there are no local Noxudol dealers and as a long time oil spray user, I prefer to go that route. I just want to know if anyone has sprayed an oil spray or lanolin based rust proofing over top of it. FWIW, not only did the Noxudol not hold up that well on my old truck, but my...

Oil Spray on Vehicle with Noxudol

I recently purchased a 2021 Tundra. It is a low mileage truck that hasn't seen inclement weather (yet) so, the undercarriage looks virtually new. It was undercoated by the Toyota dealer with what appears to be Noxudol. My previous truck had Noxudol applied after a frame inspection and it...

Toyota Dealer Coated Brake Calipers During Service - for Anti-Corrosion?

Good call, likely a rust converter. Now thar you say that, it did look like a rust converter spray, not like paint.

Toyota Dealer Coated Brake Calipers During Service - for Anti-Corrosion?

True, I didn't take pics, but for it is not helpful when I have stated multiple times I am certain they are original and everyone seems to ignore that fact. Maybt paint is all that it is, although it does look more translucent than typical l high temp paint. I have just never seen a shop do...

Toyota Dealer Coated Brake Calipers During Service - for Anti-Corrosion?

Nope not remans. There is some over-spray which is how I know they are coated. This isn't my first rodeo and these posts are not helpful.

Toyota Dealer Coated Brake Calipers During Service - for Anti-Corrosion?

They are original - 100% sure is pretty clear. They were not replaced. Only the pads and rotors were replaced as per the invoice and my observations. I will just ask the Toyota dealer next time I have a chance.

Toyota Dealer Coated Brake Calipers During Service - for Anti-Corrosion?

Like I said in the original post, I am 100% sure they are original. In fact, I can see pit marks from the corrosion under the coating. The invoice just spells out shop supplies. I thought maybe Toyota maybe had a standard spray for a rust belt car brakes. I highly doubt the tech sprayed them...

Toyota Dealer Coated Brake Calipers During Service - for Anti-Corrosion?

My dad brought his Camry in for brake service work at the Toyota dealer. I was looking at the car after the work was done to see what they did. I saw that they cleaned up the corrosion on the calipers and brackets and coated it with something. They looked way better than before (and no, they...

Used John Deere X300 - Advice

My property has maybe 1/2 an acre I need to mow. It takes me about 1.5 to 2 hours to cut, but that includes triming and some push mowing around tight sections. It has lots of irregularity, some slopes and a ditch. There are also some rough sections. I am not a lawn tractor enthusiast, I just...

Used John Deere X300 - Advice

My 30+ year old JD LX178 is getting very tired so I am looking to replace it with a newer tractor of similar long term durabilty. I found a couple of X300s with about 200 hours. Does anyone have any advice on the long term quality of this tractor? Any common trouble areas to look at? I know it...

    Oil for 408 Ford V8

Thanks for the replies. The more and more I read about the Mobil 1 0W40, the more I like it. It has a good additive package and a high HTHS. That is probably important as the Ford 335 series engines aren't known for great oiling at the mains. I also like that is readily available locally. So I...

    Oil for 408 Ford V8

Thank you for all the feedback. A few comments. This car does not see anywhere near freezing temperatures, so cold weather pump-ability is not an issue. There were oil system mods, specifically special cam bearings and a few other oil restriction mods that help to reduce oil to the cam/lifters...

    Oil for 408 Ford V8

Yes, I do suffer from OCD when it comes to this engine. It almost always gets run for 30 minutes minimum when I drive it.

    Oil for 408 Ford V8

I'd rather stick with a 30wt oil as the engine is built with tight clearances and makes lots of oil pressure even with a standard oil pump. I think going up to a 40wt might make too much oil pressure. My engine builder recommended sticking with a 5w30 or 10w30.

    Oil for 408 Ford V8

I have Ford 408 (Cleveland not Windsor). It has a roller cam and roller rockers. The engine only has about 2000 miles on since it was built. I have run it Pennzoil Dino 10w30 since it was broken built. I'd like to move up to a higher end oil. The car is street driven only but sees some...

RANCHERO! With Bonus - 2022 WRX

That Ranchero is a 77-79 which was the last year's they made the car. The GT was a factory option, but it was just an appearance and interior package, not a performance package. This car would have come powered by a 302, 351W, 351M or a 400. There was no 400 in 1979. All of these engines were...

Wheel damage from incorrect lug nuts?

I checked the car today. The taper seat lug nuts were on more than two turns, so they might have had barely adequate thread engagement. I inspected the wheel holes and it didn't appear that the wheels had any damage of significance beyond slightly marred edges around the holes. I got installed...

Wheel damage from incorrect lug nuts?

Like I said, I am aware the lug nuts need to be changed ASAP. What I am more concerned about is if this would have caused damage to the wheels or not? They guy would have torqued them and she already drove a short distance with the car before she asked me about it. And yes I agree, the guy...
