    How oil affects LSPI

So maybe Redline, despite it's high calcium, wouldn't dramatically increase LSPI event chances due to also having high ZDDP and moly.

    Honda 1.5L gdi turbo

I'll just stick to M1 0w-20 AP for the first change then. Hopefully i'll get to it this week before 6k miles. Oil level on the dipstick seems to be high by about half the distance between full and low.

    Honda 1.5L gdi turbo

Tried to draw a sample through the dipstick on my Honda 1.5T today and it seems the tube will not fit down far enough to reach the oil... <img src="/forums/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="frown" title="frown" height="15" width="15" /> I was hoping to leave in the FF oil a little longer because of...

    Redline Oil 0w20 Voa

I was considering using this in my TGDI Honda, but I've read that calcium is a contributor to LSPI and Redline seems to use a lot of calcium.

Mobil 1 AP and EP nearly the same price?

I bought some AP from Walmart.com awhile back for $40, but it came with a $10 gift card, so same price really as the $30 EP was at the time.

    Ravenol Eco Synth 0w-20

Dumb question: How is the NOACK % so low? Appears to be lower than Mobil 1 AP/EP (10%), Redline (9%), and Amsoil (8.5%).

Oil for 2018 Honda Civic Sport 1.5T

Right, the percent dilution is the same but the resulting viscosity is not. For warranty purposes, no one but me has to know that one of the quarts in the sump is a little thicker and more shear resistant, giving me some extra cushioning when the viscosity starts dropping.

Oil for 2018 Honda Civic Sport 1.5T

Bumping up this post again... Just recently passed 5k miles, noticed the oil level on the dipstick is above full now, figured I should go ahead and change it despite the OLM reading 50% life left. Ordered a couple analysis kits from Oil Analyzers to send off a sample and quantify the amount...

Oil for 2018 Honda Civic Sport 1.5T

I plan on sending in some samples for analysis to check on this fuel dilution issue. What’s the consensus here on Blackstone vs. Oil analyzers? Also I’ll probably end up on Redline oil or a 0w30 (or both) but for now I’m interested in just sticking to what it says in the manual and keeping the...

Oil for 2018 Honda Civic Sport 1.5T

Haven't reached my first change yet, but OLM seems to be counting down 10% every 1000 miles, so i'd guess it wants ~10k OCIs. 1. What kind of vehicle you have - 2018 Civic Sport. 2. What your owner's manual says -- not just viscosity, but certifications (look for acronyms like API SM, ILSAC...

    Honda ACEA spec?

Hmm, interesting. I noticed Motul 0w-20 Eco-Lite is both API SN, ACEA A1/B1, and Dexos gen2 certified, so I thought that might be a good choice. Redline is a candidate also though. Temps here in North AL vary pretty widely. Last week, overnight lows were in single digits. In summer, it...

    Honda ACEA spec?

I've heard that Honda is making a single Civic platform for global sale now, and I assume that means the same 1.5L turbo engine. Does anyone know what their oil recommendation is in Europe? ACEA A1/B1? 0w-20? In the US, they recommend API certified 0w-20, just wondering what they say elsewhere...
