    2018 Toyota Corolla coolant

Asian pink any brand. If pink isn't available blue and green Asian are pretty much the same.

What are you working on today?

Yesterday I applied a can of fluid film to the underside. Today I drained and refilled the coolant. About 1 year/40k on the coolant. Out: Supertech Asian blue. In: Same. Finally transferred to a job closer to home so I can start doing maintenance less often. No more monthly oil change.

Why did this water pump fail? - 2014 Ram 5.7L Hemi

That's how my last pump looked, sadly it didn't prevent the bearing from failing.

    2010 Accord--Pitted cam lobe pics

1.6l GDI gamma engine, used quaker state, Valvoline, Pennzoil, whatever oil every 5k. It doesn't really matter what oil you use for the most part, especially in modern TGDI/GDI or even MPFI low tension piston ring engines, soot, combustion blow-by, and fuel are bad for your engine, and they make...

    2010 Accord--Pitted cam lobe pics

Not the poster you quoted but some engines and some driving conditions it is not. I used to do 5-6k OCI and around 100k I started getting obvious varnishing. Been doing 3k for the last 121k and now the engine is squeaky clean. Extending oil changes is literally the definition of a penny smart...

What are you working on today?

Well let's see, on the 2016 Accent, over the last couple weeks I replaced the Hydraulic motor mount, unfroze (the adjuster) and adjusted my rear drum brakes (was really starting to feel like I was driving with three wheel braking), finally diagnosed my blower motor problem (it was the relay!)...

    GDI oil change interval

3-4k max, the extended drain oils have the tbn and shear stability but that does nothing when fuel dilution and carbon soot are your major problems, it must be removed via an oil change.

    Disappointed with New Knife

Many S&W knives I had in the mid to early 00s had such poor steel quality I could never get a good edge on them. Gerber (aside from one assisted opening one I spent extra money on) was the same way. Kershaw, Cold Steel, and Spyderco are the knives I go to when I need a quality blade at a price...

    Dirty oil causing hard starts?

Doubt it. Things that could cause hard starts include (but are not limited to) dirty injectors, dirty intake/throttle body, worn or fouled spark plugs (or bad coils), vacuum leaks or faulty AFR sensors, bad camshaft position sensor, or bad crankshaft position sensor. You really need a scan tool...

Should I get coated drums or not?

I got non coated drums for my Accent and after one winter I will tell you next time I'll be getting coated, and not just for cosmetic reasons. I wanted to adjust and clean my brakes before winter and I could not get the drums off without damaging them because of the rusted lip inside, so when...

    Spark plugs change @ 100k

Yup as evidenced by my 205k 1.6l gamma you definitely can get a long life from them if you take some extra care along the way. At the shop I work at I service many fleet GDI Kia souls and TGDI Chevy's and most of them following bare bones maintenance schedules have problems past 100k.
