Overfilled crankcase = bent conrod?

Could over-filling an engine with oil cause a conrod to bend? Assuming that no oil got into the cylinder, and therefore no risk of hydro-lock, could an over-filled crankcase result in a bent conrod? This is a question from another forum, where an engine allegedly had 7.5 litres of oil in it...

quote:
Vehicles with the 5.7L Multiple Displacement System (MDS) must use SAE 5W-20 oil. Emailed VAG regardin oil

wavinwayne, I can't comment on the wording on the back of the Syntec bottles, but on the European SLX bottles it states (in 4 languages): For specific manufacturer approvals see box below. And then in the box there is a list of spec's which include VW502 00 & VW503 01 None...

Fuchs titan SL Long Life Plus 0w-30

I'm not absolutely certain, but I think it's simply because before the 2000 model year, the (VW) engines didn't have the sensors fitted for on-board oil-life monitoring (OLM) for which those VW standards were conceived.

    North American vs. European OCI

    Redline - SM Update

I've noticed something similar on bottles of Castrol Edge. I don't know if this is because of the phosphorus content, although unlike the SLX & SLX Longtech, the tech spec for Edge does not state 'low phosphorus.' Anyway, the wording of the tech spec on Castrol Edge 0W-30 is: "Meets the engine...

    ACEA A2?

ACEA A2 & B2 were dropped from the listings in 2004. From the ACEA 2004 Oil documentation: The categories A2 and B2 are not included in this edition of the ACEA European Oil Sequences because they are unsuitable for some of the current engines and will be unsuitable for many future...

    Impala article in NY Times

To me, it seems that the root cause of GM's problems is that it's been run by accountants & finance people instead of 'car people.' These are people who are only interested in 'maximizing shareholder value' and stock value, not producing vehicles that consumers actually want to buy. They don't...
