I started using Chevron Supreme 10w30 about 3 months ago in my high milage Volvo. I've never really had any cold start issues with my previous oil (Valvoline Maxlife 10w30), but the Chevron has been providing good sounding cold starts down to 3F.

I have an inexpensive magnetic drain plug in my Volvo 240($3.50+shipping from FCPGroton). The Volvo has an steel oil pan and the magnet on the cheapo plug is so strong that it makes installation challenging. I can't imagine that any $20 magnetic plug is going to be <i>that</i> much stronger.

I'm doing 3k OCIs on Chevron Supreme 10w30, but most of my commute is stop-and-go. I would consider stretching it to 4k if I drove more highway miles.

I've never seen 5w40 Syntec on the shelves here in the US. The only places I know of that stock it are VW/Audi dealers(VW Part#ZVW352540S).

I've been using Shell Rotella T 5W40 in our `03 Golf 2.0. I did start using M1 5W30 but switched to Rotella to save some $$. (4-5k OCIs) If I had to use a dino, Chevron Supreme 5W30 would be at the top of the list.
