1st change after break in, suggestions?

Just bought an 03, Ford F250 Super duty, V10 motor. I have about 300 miles on it now, I think the break in is 500 if I am not mistaken. With this truck, I would like to stay with the same oil all the time. It does kind of scare me though, the manual calls for 5W20. That is almost water I think...

The After auto-rx pictures of Oil & filter 6.8 V10

The fact that the diesel costs a shade over $5,000 more, that I know several people with diesels and the mileage claims I read about were pretty much bogus. The diesels aren't getting all that much better mileage than the V10, maybe 2mpg. The fact that around here, diesel fuel is actually more...

The After auto-rx pictures of Oil & filter 6.8 V10

Ray, what is the redline on that motor? I understood that it was supposed to rev higher than an 8, which would make sence. Just wondering though, if it pulls hard all through the rev band, or if it has to build some revs before it pulls. I know what the tech sheets say, just wondering what a...

The After auto-rx pictures of Oil & filter 6.8 V10

It sure does look shorter, must just be the picture. So there are two more cyl's to lubricate and they use the same amount, interesting. I trust they know what they are doing, it is just interesting. In effect, they have added a quarter of an engine but not a quarter more oil. Off topic, how do...

The After auto-rx pictures of Oil & filter 6.8 V10

I don't have a comment about auto-rx. However, I just yesterday bought an 03 super duty with 6.8 v10. It will be delivered from the depot next weekend. My concern is, that filter looks tiny. Smaller than the one on my 4.6 v8. What's the deal with that? How many qts of oil does the v10 hold? Thanks..

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

Okay then. Refilled with Texaco 87 octane, used Neutra 1 bottle for 27 gallons. I am still sitting on full after 72 miles of driving with the A/C on, extended idle time etc. It had to be the Shell high octane gas. I don't know how or why. My wife reports the same from the 87 octane Phillips...

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

Well, it does say "for gas or diesel engines" on the label. Therefore, it appears to be the right one.

I still have the bottle, I bought 8 the first time. It doesn't tell me what number it is though.

quote:
Originally posted by JHZR2: well if they were knocking, then you hadan existing problem already... Sounds like neutra is catalyzing the carbon deposits that absorb gasoline and hold it, causing the knocking sound. Hopefully after doing some strong neutra doses...

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

My wife has put more gas into her van, I think she hit a Phillips station on the way home. As for the truck, no. I took time off this week so haven't driven as much. I looked yesterday and still had a bit over a quarter tank left, it was at 100 and some miles. I think 121, can't recall exactly...

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

I agree Bob. I can't believe that a few ounces of a product would cause this, no possible way. I can't explain it otherwise. I can say with 100% certainty, that no fuel has been stolen. Wouldn't it be odd that two vehicles locked in a garage at night, 30 miles apart during the work day, are...

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

My exact application does not include additives that " MAY " reduce my gas mileage by a bunch. Again, not that this caused it, however, again..... it hasn't been proven to my satisfaction that it hasn't caused it. Wouldn't you agree in a court of law, that this would be very compelling...

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

all my fuel lines are metal that I can see. I have checked the length from the tank to the fuel rails, not a drop or drip anywhere. Has me fooled. Funny thing is, I ordered two cases of the stuff two weeks ago. The distributor called me today, telling me my order was ready for delivery. <img...

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

I don't think I over dosed. May have been though. My leaning was that it may have helped burn out something that was burning out anyway. Either way though, it is drinking gas badly. I should say they are. My wife called me to let me know she had to put more money into the tank today, 3 days...

Neutra and gas mileage BOTTOMED out..Help!

So many questions. Both vehicles are in a locked garage at night. We both use the same fuel, that being Shell 93. That is relatively new for both of us, before that we both used Texaco 89. However, we switched to Shell a few tanks before we used the Neutra. There was no noticable difference in...

well, isn't it odd that this happened to two different vehicles, at the same time, the only thing being common was Neutra?
