Best oil for BMW E30 and E39?

I've had good luck with both Mobil 0W-40 and Rotella 5W-40 in my BMW. I had a tiny bit of consumption with the 0W, so I'd probably try something thicker in the E30.

    4.7 Dodge v-8

If the MPG difference is negligible, I don't see why you would get the 4.7L over the hemi. I absolutely love'd the 4.7L in my Grand Cherokee, but I always wished for a bit more displacement when pulling larger trailers.. such as our ski boat. If it was my money, I'd get the hemi.

    Tahoe won't stop stumbling

Does the stumbling happen under load only? Such as when traveling up a hill or passing? This stumbling can be an indication of a plenum/intake manifold gasket leak. Do you notice any coolant consumption?

Thoughts on oil for an 06 cobalt

My family recently sold our 2007 Chevy Cobalt. The ecotecs are easy on oil. That being said, I chose to run a respectable synthetic and follow the OLM. The car seemed to love Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 and I could rest easy knowing it would provide proper protection. GM put a lot of work into...

    California Dreaming

I have no experience with the Genesis engines, but the 2.4L in our '09 Hyundai Sonata seems to run smoother on 5w-30 than 5w-20. I have no tangible proof for this, besides my personal observations

    PP 5w20 or Motorcraft 5w20

Motorcraft is a bargain at Walmart. 5qt for $11.50. You also have the security of knowing it is a perfect match for your Ford engine. You cannot go wrong with PP, but I'm not sure its worth the premium.

    PP vs Napa Syn 5-30????

Our Family Suburban has been switched between PP and Napa Synth multiple times (I tend to buy whichever is a better buy...). I follow the OLM down to 15% and have yet to notice any difference between the two. I'm imagine I should run a UOA, but there a trillion worse things you could do to your...

Switching from M1 to MC 5W20. Any issues?

It is not unheard of for a brand/type of oil change to result in some initial consumption. Other than that, you should be fine. What type of vehicle?

    Older car? thicker oil?

As a rule, no. But sometimes it makes sense to use a thicker oil if you are trying to cure an issue such as oil burning.
