2002 7.3L Powerstroke

Have been doing UOA and am due for an oil change, hence the question. Guess I will call Amsoil Monday, but I have a feeling I already know what they are going to say. Not knocking them, I love their products, but would like to do what is best for me and my truck.

    2002 7.3L Powerstroke

Regarding a 2002 F-350 7.3L Powerstroke with a Bypass Oil Filter and Amsoil Diesel Motor Oil. Is their 15W-40 Heavy-Duty Diesel and Marine Oil still the best oil to run for long OCIs? Have been using the Diesel and Marine Oil with great success but see that they have some new 15W-40 out and...

    Diesel Fuel Additive Q.

TTT Asking this because some of the additive that I use is a emulsifier and some is a demusifier. If you add both to the same tank, let's say at filling up with a half tank, what happens? I'm sure some of you have done this, ever think about it?

    Diesel Fuel Additive Q.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but it seems no one can answer this question for me. What happens if you add both a demulsifier and an emulsifier to the same tank of diesel? TIA.

    FS 2500

The FS-2500 has a very heavy, sturdy bowl/cannister that is held on by a bolt over the filter cartridge. I like this aspect of its design because it is mounted under the truck(F-350) and affords protection. Also, the mfg. claims that the filter element removes moisture from the oil. It is a...

    Opti-Lube Oil Fortifier

Thanks. Does anyone know where I can find a VOA of this add. or do you think it would pay to have one done? I'm considering using it but would like to know what's in it first. Yes I searched and yes I asked the manufacturer.

    06 Jeep Liberty 2.8L CRD

turbowhine, I checked out your previous UOA. I also agree that the Mopar oil filter is not contributing to the wear and is doing a rather good job. Insolubles(soot) is 0.4 with 6500 miles on the oil. Either that or the engine is pretty tight and the soot is not getting into the oil. On that...

    06 Jeep Liberty 2.8L CRD

Market525, please see above post. JAG, thanks also. I'm trying to decide which 5W-40. M TDT or the Rotella. As I understand it the M TDT is not a true syn. Group 4 anymore so it's 50/50. Okay - I'll ask. Which would you go with first?

    06 Jeep Liberty 2.8L CRD

turbowhine, I am using the OEM Mopar filter. I was/am contemplating switching to a 5W-40 diesel oil. Am using the M1 0W-40 because it is the #1 recommended weight and the M1 is just about the only oil out there in this weight. If 0W-40 is not available, 5W-40 MAY be used.(per Chrysler). I...

    06 Jeep Liberty 2.8L CRD

Would the silicon level tell you about air filtration? Your point is taken, and I will again recheck all intake/intercooler ducts and hoses.

    06 Jeep Liberty 2.8L CRD

Please, need some help here. Your thoughts on this terrible UOA would be appreciated. TIA. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa37/yankem1/scan0001.jpg

    Simple, straight forward question

BTW, the last UOA I did I sent out to 2 different Labs. Same sample exactly. I was very careful. Came back with 2 very different results. ????? Can leave one very sceptical. I called both labs, but it seems no one in this world knows what's going on anymore. I sure do miss the old days.

    Simple, straight forward question

Thanks guys, but I still am wondering. The digest test sounds good, but I don't have the means to perform this operation. So if I understand so far, a UOA will only tell us the condition of the oil and changes in the wear metals that got through the filter?

    Simple, straight forward question

If a good single bypass filter filters out all the harmful wear metals (in addition to other contminantes) and you sent off your oil for UOA, then how do you know what your wear metals actually are?
