    Getting Varnish in Carborators

Didn't have problems for years using StarTron. On the last bottle or two the dosage was changed from 1 oz for every 6 gallons to 1 oz for every 16 gallons. Website still says 1 oz every 6 gallons. Is this a typo on the label? Maybe I'll go back to 1 oz in every 6 gallons.

    Getting Varnish in Carborators

I've never seen ethanol free gas anywhere. One (or more) of my numerous OPE manuals said to use 91 octane gas or higher. Can't remember which.

    Getting Varnish in Carborators

Greetings Ye Merry Oilmen, I use 93 octane fuel (e10 AFAIK) with StarTron fuel additive in all my outdoor power equipment. I have had to clean varnish flakes out of carbs on both the Echo string trimmer and the Husq hedge trimmer so far this year. They don't get used often but at least a few...

2013 Kia Rio clock and radio no power after battery disconnect

Greetings. I disconnected the battery in my wifes 2013 Kia Rio in order to replace the starter. I replaced the starter and the car starts, runs and drives as it should. Except there is no clock or radio. Fuse is good. Manual says after the battery is disconnected clock must be reset by holding...

FRAM filter metal flakes from forming thread?

I gave up on Fram years ago. On one car it was exceedingly difficult to start the threads. Like they were not cut right. On another the filters galled the threads on the filter post and I had to buy an expensive die to repair them. On a third the new filter leaked and upon inspection there was a...

    2013 Kia Rio starter

Thanks Joe. If it was mine, I'd probably look into changing the selanoid and brushes and lube things up. But she does some long trips occasionaly and would feel better with new in there.

    2013 Kia Rio starter

Thanks Greasy. The vehicle does not have the start/stop option. "By then, you might buy her a new car..." If she needs one. My daily driver is her old 2007 Chevy aveo with 247k miles. Still running like a champ.

    2013 Kia Rio starter

Greetings oil men. My wife's starter failed on her 2013 Kia Rio. The availability and prices are all over the place. I want new and don't want to compromise on quality. Napa has one for $246. Ebay ranges from $77 to over $300 for claimed oem. The oem I have failed after only 135K miles, mostly...

Squeaky brakes a 300 miles after brake job?

Probably just a sharp, rusty edge on the old rotors cutting into the new pads a little.

    Turbotax question

They always promise me a lower price and end up charging more. Tried H&R but they would have been even more. They lied. Life is not fair. Try to move on.

Squeaky Smog Pump: Should I replace it?

Thanks for your help everybody. It looks like I can delete it simply by removing the pulley and putting on a shorter 97.5 inch belt. We do have emissions testing, but I can register as an antique to avoid it if I have to. My guess is that it will pass without a smog pump. Here are the results of...

Squeaky Smog Pump: Should I replace it?

I have a squeaky smog pump in my 1993 E350, 5.8l. I have had the thing out twice and was able to lube all the bearings pretty well except the front bearing, which I attempted to soak in oil overnight by just setting that end down and putting oil in there. No success. Still squeaks. Don't really...

    Lube Intervals

Just replaced all four ball joints on the 2002 E150 with new Moog grease type. (Broke one 24oz ball peen handle swinging on the axle yoke. Steering knuckles looked like Titanic anchor.) What's a good lube interval for these? IIRC, they used to say 1K or 2K miles. Don't want to do that again...
