    2008 Silverado 5.3 - switching to 10W-30 ok?

Correct, I have not done the deflector in the oil pan. So it sounds like I likely won't notice much a difference between the 5W and 10W. I'll likely give Havoline 10W-30 a shot. This has likely been beat to death but how does Havoline compare to Castrol? The numbers seem similar between the...

    2008 Silverado 5.3 - switching to 10W-30 ok?

So the LL is the gold bottle? The Extended Performance? One thing I forgot to mention is sometimes I get a little rattle at startup if I let the truck sit for days at a time. Since I can now drive my wife's company vehicle without her in it, I'll drive that quite a bit since it's free gas (even...

    2008 Silverado 5.3 - switching to 10W-30 ok?

What is the Castrol "LL" oil? I've seen those in the PDS but never know which oil it is. Would a HM oil help with consumption? I thought I read somewhere that going to a 5W-30 HM or a 10W-30 is essentially the same? Is that wrong or somewhat correct?

    2008 Silverado 5.3 - switching to 10W-30 ok?

I did the valve cover a while ago, probably 7-8 years ago so that's been done. AFM has been turned off for most of the engine's life. It's tough to find 5W-40 here in Nashville. The one ones I can find are Euro formulas. I guess my biggest question was on the CCS/MVR numbers since both are...

    2008 Silverado 5.3 - switching to 10W-30 ok?

I have a 2008 Silverado 5.3 with 163,000 miles that is using some oil. I have had AFM turned off with my tune since at least 70,000 miles but still using some oil. Is there an issue with moving up to a 10W-30 since my truck technically calls for a 5W-30? Since I live in middle TN, it gets...

    1965 Mustang 289 - Recommended oils

To answer the questions above: It's the standard 289 2bbl. Average temps in the spring fall are 70/80's and our summers can get 95*+. I don't plan on driving it hard as this will mainly be a weekend cruiser. I'm sure I'll run her hard occasionally but that won't be the norm. I do plan on...

    1965 Mustang 289 - Recommended oils

I'm pretty sure that was replaced as well. All ignition parts were replaced but I'll check to make sure.

    1965 Mustang 289 - Recommended oils

Thanks, everybody. I'm in middle TN if that matters. It gets really hot in the summers and mild in spring/fall which is when the car will be driving mostly. A tune-up was done not too long ago before we got it so all plugs/wires, etc are good. I just got done rebuilding the carb and she runs...

    1965 Mustang 289 - Recommended oils

I will probably pull the valve covers this weekend just to have a look and see what shape it's in. At some point I want to have it rebuilt but not sure how long down the road that is going to be. The car was driven as a daily driver when it it was purchased new for years but then it was kept...

    1965 Mustang 289 - Recommended oils

We just got a 1965 Mustang 289 from my fiance's uncle and it's time for some maintenance to be done. It's been in the family it's whole life too. It's completely original/stock with the stock 289 that has never been rebuilt. Her family thinks that the OD has rolled over so no idea how many...

    Sight seepage from drain plug

That's the OE number that crosses to the Felpro gasket that I can get at Autozone. I'm going to pick one up after work and hopefully that helps.

    Sight seepage from drain plug

I thought that at first but I wipe it down. I'll check it the next day and a few days after (wiping it off each time) and there will be another drip and a new spot on the floor so I think it's definitely seeping. I replaced it last time with an OE plug/gasket.

    Sight seepage from drain plug

I have a 2008 Silverado w/ 5.3. Using Fram Ultra and M1 5W-30. I have some slight seepage from my drain plug. I've torqued it to spec and even replaced the entire plug and rubber o-ring but it's still leaking. Maybe 1 or two drops of oil in the garage a night. I was thinking about replacing...

Help with GM/AC Delco Power Steering fluid

I'm not sure if the system can run Dex VI or not. The manual says Power Steering fluid. I'm in Tennessee so we don't anywhere near as cold as people up north so the chance of the PS fluid freezing here is slim. It does get in the teens but I would assume the PS fluid is good down to that temp.

Help with GM/AC Delco Power Steering fluid

I need to get some power steering fluid for my '08 Silverado and these part numbers are driving me crazy. Here is what I've found and I'm hoping somebody can confirm the most up-to-date part number I need. 89021185 -> New # is 19329450 (16 oz) 12345867 -> new # is 19329448 (1 qt) There is...

AC Delco Filters - Silicon or Nitrile ADBV?

Thanks. I order some UPF48R's a while back since they don't make the non E-Cores anymore but forgot about them when we moved. I wasn't sure if they had a better ADBV since they are supposed to be a better filter. Mine is black though. Were they all blue at one point?

AC Delco Filters - Silicon or Nitrile ADBV?

Do they use nitrile on the UPF models or are those silicon and the regular filters are nitrile?

AC Delco Filters - Silicon or Nitrile ADBV?

Does AC Delco use silicon or nitrile ADBV's? I tried looking online but could not find anything and calling their Tech Line was pointless. I have a few PF48's (non Ecore) and some UPF48's left over that I can use. If not I'll go with a filter that has a silicon ADBV (Fram Ultra or Wix).
