    2021 M2C S55 with 10k miles; BMW 0w-30 3.5k miles

To my knowledge all bmw dealers in US carry currently BMW LL01FE and BMW LL17FE only ll04 is not recommend outside of EU due to the still higher level of sulfur in gasoline comparing to EU For that engine I would keep runing BMW 0w30 LL01FE with shorter OCI than the manufacturer recommends

    2015 BMW N20 X1 UOA 5K MILES NON-EURO OIL: ROUND 2

Hold on, this is naturally aspirated straight-six non-turbo N53 engine. To be truly honest, kind of a really different animal to compare with N20. I do not really think N20 will be that clean after 15K OCI even with BMW approved oil

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

wow, thanks for the info I am hearing here and there that the new GM DI engines are very far from being called reliable, this why there are so many of them dead after even good care and maintenance. I am also hearing a lot of bad about Ford's new Bronco engine, which is hit and miss, but most...

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

Lol, :)Thank God not me... I am like a good church boy, changing oil religiously using only approved oil and changing it every half of recommended OCI. Also using OEM oil during warranty in 90% of the time It was hypothetically speaking due to some of the claims here and my doubts that a well...

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

Yes, true, expensive and time consuming, but nobody stopping. If especially not hiring any lawyers, might be cheap. I have seen people fighting $100 speeding tickets in federal courts, as some roads in DC area monitored by Federal agencies

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

I have seen engines where oil was never changed and the engine survived the warranty period. So using wrong oil but changing it often most likely prolong engine life beyond warranty period, there a high probability of that. After warranty who cares, except the owner

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

Yes agree, normally it is not the case, but it does happen even when an engine is maintained using recommended oil/recommended OCI depending on many factors like short-tripping, racing, using cheapest fuel with no cleaning additives or high sulfer, etc and also manufactures errors like in case...

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

everything said mostly is related to neglected recommended OCIs. Also "gunk, varnish, and sludge" can be forming even under normal operation in modern DI engines using approved oils and recommended extended by manufactures OCI. (Let's not forget perversely approved 15K OCI from BMW in US) Back...

    2022 Mazda CX-9 - High Performance Lubricants PCMO 10W-20 - 4,897 Miles

Reading all these arguments, the question would be, how a manufacture can prove that a wrong viscosity and unapproved oil was used in an engine? Sending the oil for a comprehensive oil analysis? I have not heard that any manufacture ever done that. Besides how a oil lab can prove the oil is not...

    2019 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7L - Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 - 10073miles

One interesting thing I saw there, PP TBN is 5.2. I have never seen such low TBN in PP, usually around 7. Is it another miss by BS? PS: more like a rhetorical question

    2019 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7L - Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 - 10073miles

Thanks for posting it again But this diagram supports what I pointed out. I said major players are heat and oxidation. How big of the player is water on this diagram? What percentage of water in this formula? Water always presents in oil as it is derived from ambient air humidity slowly...

    2019 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7L - Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 - 10073miles

water? If someone tries to drive 100K on the same oil, there will be no oil left, only sludge and dirt, even without a significant amount of moisture. Heat, oxidation and as the result oil degradation are primary players in the process of forming sludge.

    2019 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7L - Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 - 10073miles

I did not say it became sludge. Oxidation beyond limits and thickening it is how the process starts

My thoughts were the same. The oil might has started turning to sludge.
