    30,000kms without an oil change

I'll have a look at the service history again but it only missed that one 30k kms. I did notice that there was a new radiator in it when I purchased it years ago. I asked if it overheated at all and they said they just noticed a leak in their driveway and then their mechanic said it needed to...

    30,000kms without an oil change

I think with a good synthetic + filter and highway driving, 30k kms would be ok. But city driving over a couple years with average oil in hot Australian summers? Apart from this one missing part, the service history has been good enough to prevent sludge I would think. Not many changes over 10k...

    30,000kms without an oil change

I changed the front valve cover on the Kluger (2005 Toyota Highlander). Found this nice surprise. I have always changed oil every 7,000kms since getting the car at 160,000kms. It now has 220,000kms. No issues apart from a fouled front spark plug due to spark plug tube seals leaking. I noticed...

Found a reason my Kluger/Highlander is burning oil

Definitely on the to do list. Have a bunch of stuff to order from Rockauto as local prices are ridiculous here!

    Do engines change by country?

I mean people in the US using Australia and other countries as a comparison. I'm not frustrated though. Seems to be many threads here about the issue though.

    Do engines change by country?

I'd put money on the engines and all their bits being exactly the same everywhere in the world. There will be exceptions to that rule but you'd have to cherry pick them. I'd debate point No 2 if 10W40 stops all oil consumption. I think people are frustrated with closed minded mentalities of...

Found a reason my Kluger/Highlander is burning oil

It would not be intelligent to remove the intake manifold with no replacement gaskets.

Found a reason my Kluger/Highlander is burning oil

Yes that's what I'm thinking too. Or they used poor quality seals. I'd also bet that it wasn't torqued to spec either, since it wasn't done by a Toyota dealership (which usually increases the chance of that happening IMO).

Found a reason my Kluger/Highlander is burning oil

Had a check engine light the other day and felt like the car was running on 5cyl (3MZFE). It has always used a bit of oil and I suspected valve stem seals or rings as there would occasionally be a puff of smoke after a long period of sitting or after a highway drive. Cylinder 4 had a large...

Indeed, I couldn't help myself and took a couple jugs home :D Thoughts on this Castrol SR5? It's 0W40 Diesel and seems to be ACEA C3. For $20 during the black Friday sales at autobarn. Also on sale at Repco is Edge 5W30 at $65 for 10L Screenshots below.

Valve cover removed - 09 Highlander

Probably for visible identification of the part during the engine assembly. Wouldn't surprise me if it was on purpose when my 05 highlander has an oil filter drip catcher that pools the oil into a metal funnel type contraption just below the filter so you don't get oil all over the block when...

2007 Accord 2.4L Valve Cover Photos - 45k miles of synthetic oil

Hmm 1.5-2qt makeup oil is a lot considering 5K OCI. Why not go up to a heavier 30 grade like an A3/B4 specced oil or even a 40 grade? I'd rather ignore the instruction manual and consume less oil.

Ugh quickly lube overfilled by an inch on the dipstick:(

Most ladies won't notice an inch extra on the dipstick. That's what I tell myself anyways.

Which Oil for Cross Country Trip

10k miles no issue with the oils you suggested! Especially since there will be some highway driving accounting for most of the miles.

    Castrol EDGE does it all...

Makes me wonder how much better edge really is. I think I'll be buying magnatec 5w30 A3B4 in bulk next time it sells for $19 per 5L here. There's no way edge 5w30 A3B4 is $16 better. That's the way they make their best profits. One product is slightly better, gets all the marketing hype and is...

Intake valves deposits, Gas vs Diesel

I'm guessing it's the efficiency. Because it combusts with more compression and more of the fuel is burnt, it doesn't get stuck on the valves etc. But this is a total guess...
