The Great EV race to the bottom has begun!

Not one post about companies like Tesla staying afloat by selling carbon credits to other sectors. Everyone I know with a Tesla either sold it or is looking to sell it. It is a niche market, status symbol, hopefully just because it is ahead of it's time. The youth want them? The youth don't...

    08 5.3 Sierra Oil Recommendations

I don't want the AFM working, that is why I deactivated it. I want the lifters to keep working lol. Are you talking about the screen behind the oil pressure sensor (on the manifold)? Does that get used if AFM is not engaged?

    08 5.3 Sierra Oil Recommendations

I think the OCI is 7500 on the MM. There are a number of factors that goes into how the computer calculates it but I have heard others state once you hit 7500 it automatically goes to 0%. Other posts on this forum regarding this engine state all normal BITOG thought - "I'm running a 10k, 15k...

    08 5.3 Sierra Oil Recommendations

This is my main concern. I will be using the truck for light duty. But I want it to stay reliable. Going synthetic was a no brainer with AFM. I have heard on the GM forums not to follow the maintenance recommendation. Change the oil when it gets to 50% because the AFM is more sensitive to...

    08 5.3 Sierra Oil Recommendations

Need oil recommendations for the 5.3L. Manual calls for 5w30 but going through the last owner's maintenance records shows the shop he was using was filling it with 5w20(???). I recently stepped up to 5w30 like the manual says. I have heard others with this engine like 5w40. Some background...

'08 Sierra Wet Behind Driver Seat

Right. This is an 08 Sierra with extended cab. No pillars. I have the plates pulled and the carpets lifted (been riding like this for weeks) monitoring the moisture levels. A part of me thinks the moisture is just residual after I have made my repairs. I also have a damp rid bucket in there...

'08 Sierra Wet Behind Driver Seat

Interesting. I didn't see any damage on the underside and there is very little rust overall. Good thing women don't ride in my truck... I guess the carpets are coming out. Any advice on the best way to repair?

'08 Sierra Wet Behind Driver Seat

So I have been tracking down wet floorboards in my Sierra and I am at a point where the next step is taking the seats/carpets out (hoping to avoid). This is what I've done so far: Replace rear high brake light & seal. Seal both weather strip grommets with silicone (above cab on left and right...

    GM Power Steering Noise

I just bought a 2008 Sierra and I have been fixing it up. The power steering had a whine at start up, idle, and when turning. I flushed the system with 2 qts of Prestone yellow bottle and the whining has quieted down some and the fluid is amber again (the old fluid was brown). My question is...

SA / Russia - Oil Price War

This was an interesting read. We should see gas prices tumbling in the next few weeks depending on how this plays out. Hopefully our domestic production market is not hit too hard. <a href="https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/saudis-plan-crude-oil-output-increase-begin-price-war-report"...

    Oil Recommendations For Leaks?

I replaced the seals the other week. Kinda a pain on the J35... Took me a couple hours and some beat up knuckles/forearms. They were pretty brittle and I am sure they were leaking some oil. Now I just have to change the oil filter housing gasket and hopefully take care of all of my leaks.

    Oil Recommendations For Leaks?

Does anyone have a good oil recommendation for a vehicle that has some slow leaks? I have been running Supertech (Warren) high mileage synthetic 5w-20. Recently I switched to Mobil 1 0w-40 because I felt like it. My truck has a few slow oil seeps that I do not want to repair right now ($$$)...

Certified Pre-Owned Wrong Size Air Filter

My wife and I bought a "certified" pre-owned Acura RDX a couple years ago. A month or so ago, I started noticing a rattling noise when she would start it in the morning (FL, 70-85* this time of year). I started checking around and noticed the intake filter was the wrong size and it left about...
