Back in America car opinions needed

I drive my 420rwhp LS1 SS every day to work. I love it and can't get enough. Running strictly freeway with the 6speed AC on at 78mph I get 26mpg. Going to work the same way only at 60 mph I get 31MPG. My SS has a full suspension setup and handles wonderful.

Talk me out of running Sae30 in my Jeep.

I think it would be fine in your temps. Marine engines use straight grades all the time and in alot colder temps than you will see.

195 MPH top speed run in a 2006 Z06 Corvette

<blockquote>quote:<hr />Originally posted by JHZR2: <strong> isnt that a lot more $$$? like 120k vs 70ish??? Is it a lot faster or more capable? JMH </strong><hr /></blockquote>Trying finding a GT for 120K. I've seen them from 150K and up. They have a crazy dealer markup on them at most...

195 MPH top speed run in a 2006 Z06 Corvette

I want one bad! I would have to trade both the TJ and Camaro SS in to be able to afford it though. Maybe in a few years but I have been doing the numbers on a used high mile 02-04 Z06. Their's alot of technology and power for starting at 65K. Tuners have gotten as high as 650rwhp N/A w a cam...

    Oil Temps.

From all the info i've read 195-210 is optimium oil temp. Mine runs right in this range with my large oil cooler. I would add a cooler if it got much over 220+. Speaking of heat my old 355ci Solid Roller SBC w/o a cooler would run 210-220 crusing and spraying a 100 shot of nitrous the oil...

    tap water

I'm still not sure on this subject as to if it really makes any difference. I know of quite a few cars that have had nothing but tap water and they have gone over 200K with no associated radiator, heater or other problems. I've used distilled in the past but my most recent change in the Jeep I...

Hey MAN your dog crapped in my yard!!

BB gun in the *** works wonders. It's better to be a man and tell the person walking the dog to not let it happen again or their will be trouble. Or you could do this..... <a href=""...

2006 Jeep Wrangler- Which Mobil 1?

If it was my TJ I would run the M1 [email protected] 5W-30. I've been seeing the 5qt jugs for $20 at Wallmart. My Bro's 98 4.0L UOA's showed lower numbers with 40W oils but I really don't think that shows the whole picture. B/C I know of many 4.0L's well over 200K on bulk 10W-30.

If OHC is so great then why.....

<blockquote>quote:<hr />Good grief. Based on that criteria, the LS1 is the same basic architecture as the 440 big block that was in my dad's 66 New Yorker--or any pushrod V8 engine, for that matter. <hr /></blockquote>That's somewhat true. The LSX's are alot more advanced than most give...

Thanks for all the car help but...

Come on man i've got buddies with 4.0L TJ with 5-6" lift, 35" tires, 4.88 gearing and the aerodynamics of a brick that get better mileage than that. Sounds like a tuneup or smaller foot is in order.

If OHC is so great then why.....

<blockquote>quote:<hr />A good example is the BMW 3.0 making 333HP (M-3) <hr /></blockquote>The I6 in the M3 is a wonderful engine but one must remember it is at the peak of power capability as well as the mentioned Honda S2000 engine. The LS1 was rated at 325-350HP depending on which vehicle...

    Mobil1 3 types which one for my 800hp Z06?????

<blockquote>quote:<hr />Well I guess I would agree that it is possible but it is a rare bird and as I mentioned in my post; heads, cam, etc., would be needed which you seem to echo also. "new" 6yo LS1.. question concerning UOA

I've had my SS since 02 and have 30K on it. Most are driving too and from the track. Probably 100+ 1/4 passes on the motor with the H/C setup. Save for a few minor marks associated with daily driving my SS looks new. My philosophy is you can't drive them when your dead so you might as well...

    Mobil1 3 types which one for my 800hp Z06?????

<blockquote>quote:<hr /> And Russell I think you are correct to raise a question about the HP if I interpret your meaning correctly. I too have been raising my eyebrows at that 800 figure. That represents over double the stock HP (385). Yes, racer12306, I understand that the motor is supposed to...

How is your vacation driving going to be effected by fuel $$

Probably not by much if any. On an interesting note I used my boat more last summer than I ever have before. All the while gas prices were also the highest they had ever been.

First Fuel Fill Of The Season

<blockquote>quote:<hr />the Marina asked if they could put some fuel in the tank for a test run. <hr /></blockquote>My Marina usually does not ask me to buy gas. It's the other way around. Save some $$ and fill up in town as it's usually cheaper.

First Fuel Fill Of The Season

50 free gallons? **** my friend that was you lucky day! Our local marina is putting the docks in as we speak and gas is around $3.20 for 89! As to your original question I don't think there should be a problem. How old is the filter/sepearator? If new or only a year old it should be fine.
