I drive my 420rwhp LS1 SS every day to work. I love it and can't get enough. Running strictly freeway with the 6speed AC on at 78mph I get 26mpg. Going to work the same way only at 60 mph I get 31MPG. My SS has a full suspension setup and handles wonderful.

I think it would be fine in your temps. Marine engines use straight grades all the time and in alot colder temps than you will see.

From all the info i've read 195-210 is optimium oil temp. Mine runs right in this range with my large oil cooler. I would add a cooler if it got much over 220+. Speaking of heat my old 355ci Solid Roller SBC w/o a cooler would run 210-220 crusing and spraying a 100 shot of nitrous the oil...

If it was my TJ I would run the M1 [email protected] 5W-30. I've been seeing the 5qt jugs for $20 at Wallmart. My Bro's 98 4.0L UOA's showed lower numbers with 40W oils but I really don't think that shows the whole picture. B/C I know of many 4.0L's well over 200K on bulk 10W-30.

Come on man i've got buddies with 4.0L TJ with 5-6" lift, 35" tires, 4.88 gearing and the aerodynamics of a brick that get better mileage than that. Sounds like a tuneup or smaller foot is in order.

Probably not by much if any. On an interesting note I used my boat more last summer than I ever have before. All the while gas prices were also the highest they had ever been.

50 free gallons? **** my friend that was you lucky day! Our local marina is putting the docks in as we speak and gas is around $3.20 for 89! As to your original question I don't think there should be a problem. How old is the filter/sepearator? If new or only a year old it should be fine.
