My VW requires 10K mile oil change intervals (first two at 5K). After the first 4 changes I stopped checking each time I filled up. I can not see any oil lost on the dipstick in 10K miles...

Pablo, Thanks again for that suggestion. After checking out the ASL, I have decided to give it a try in my 2003 Olds van. That will reduce the number of oils I need to stock (2). Delvac for my TDI and ASL for the Scion and Olds. Jason

SubLGT, How would they know if the oil I purchase is an approved viscosity? Even if they tested the oil (beyond a standard UOA), I would think it would be difficult to tell (oils thin and thicken during use). IMO, it seems completely logical that a 0w30 would work in any automotive application...

Medium trips, some short, some long... No maintanance history, but I do know the oil was changed at least once. Air filter was not changed, all other filters and fluids changed.

Interesting, I purchased this used and changed the oil right away, trans fluid, etc. I also used a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner. I guess I have some searching to do!
