Scanning through the local Canadian Tire aisle, I noticed that the PP Euro LX 0W30 is Made in Germany now. I don't recall this being the case with the previous PP Euro oils.
Trailer is 3500lbs. It's not so much the weight as the aerodynamics at highway speeds. Its a parachute behind the car.
I think perhaps I need to rephrase my question as there will be as many opinions as posters.
Can I improve on the GC 0W-30 that I have been using in the BMW for the last 6...
Vehicle is long out of warranty, so LL-01 oils are not required.
Transmission has Redline D6.
Oil filter has always been, and likely always will be, OEM BMW cartridge filter.
My understanding is that OW-40 oils will shear faster, than a 5w-40 or 15w-40. Since I want to run a somewhat...
Thank you all for the quick replies. Cold weather characteristics of the oil are not all that important as we are heading south predominantly, and the weather there in Winter is quite balmy.
I'm leaning towards a heavier oil as the motor runs at MINIMUM 3k RPM and about half throttle. It's...
I have a BMW with the N52 (2.5L L6, NON-turbo, NON-DI) pulling a camping trailer. 65k miles on engine. Well maintained. Good working order. Hardly any consumption.
The car will be used to tow a camping trailer across the USA on a trip this coming winter. We will cover approx 20,000 miles...
Please keep in mind that us Canadians also get "Winter" gas from November on. Winter gas is less potent for a lack of better term.
Therefore quite a bit of the decrease in mileage we associate with cold weather is in great part caused by the fuel we put into our cars.
I've searched and came up empty handed.
It's been asked before by others, and no clear response has been given.
The question remains whether Mopar P/S fluid is compatible with generic P/S fluids. Are there any clear differences that would prevent one from using the generic stuff in a Chrysler...
Interesting, 69. Thanks for the reply.
So how 'bout this. If we accept your assumption to be true, can we safely say that ATF +3 would be safe in the same application? Or do the ATF +4 properties differ significantly from ATF +3? ATF +4 is backwards compatible, perhaps ATF +3 would be...
What's the best way to change P/S fluid? How does one go about getting it out (which line should I unscrew to drain it?). Is turning on the engine and turning the steering wheel to get most of it out advisable?
My application: '94 Dodge Ram 1500 318ci, 2WD.
Thanks a bunch.
I've got some gear oil laying around. Being the cheap b#stard that I am, I have a two fold question:
1. Was the VW/Audi 75w-90 gear oil meant to be used in rear ends, or is it strictly a tranny oil?
2. Other than possible additives clash (or a negative answer to Q.1), is there any reason...
Overall, I think that our choice is largely based on what makes us "feel better", rather than a scientific deduction.
In my case, I feel better using an oil that has been widely used around the gloge where extended drains are the norm. This has helped me deal with the initial shock of...
For some reason I don't think the sample was taken while the oil was flowing out of your engine.
More likely than not, the mechanic forgot to take the sample and last second had to cover his a** by getting the oil from some dirty pan.
Just my opinnion. Good luck with whatever you decide.
