Did Chevron 15w40 change their formula

Can you elaborate why you feel this way about CK4 Delo? I’m estimating that I’ve been using Delo 400 SDE and XLE 15W40 for at least 500,000 miles in my Detroit Series 60 engine. I’m an Owner-Operator Truck Driver, and my truck travels from Eastern Idaho to the South East U.S., and back...

Delo 400 vs Delo 600, vs Delvac 1300

In my opinion, Mobil Delvac Super 1300 15W40 is a very good HDEO. I used it in my semi truck with a factory remanufactured pre-EPA Detroit Series 60 engine, for 15,000 mile intervals, for roughly the first 150,000 miles of it’s life, and it performed flawlessly. I wouldn’t hesitate to run it in...

    First HDEO oil you used?

For me, it was 15W40 Chevron Delo 400 for my brand spanking new 1986 Ford F-250HD with a 6.9 International Diesel engine.

HEADS UP!! Delo 400 XLE 10w-30 Synthetic Blend $3 per Gallon SALE

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve gotten excellent results from Delo 400 XLE 10W30 in the past, using it in my pre-EPA Series 60 Detroit. I guess I missed the clearance though. Locally I could only find 3 gallons. Dang It!!! FWIW, I’ve been using Delo 400 XLE 15W40 year ‘round for about the last...

Chevron’s response to lowered ZDDP in their Delo 400 HDDEOs.

I agree. And in my opinion, Chevron has been very much a pioneer in the advancement of motor oils. Especially their Delo line of HDEO’s. I’ve used Dual rated CK4/SN Delo 400 HDEOs in my Series 60 Detroit motor for roughly 300,000 miles, and it’s still running strong.

Chevron’s response to lowered ZDDP in their Delo 400 HDDEOs.

I saw a UOA you posted some time back using Delvac 1300 CK4, which prompted me to switch to Delo 400 XLE. I have a question: Cummins’ 20086 test looks pretty grueling from what I’ve read. Every one of the Major brands have passed this test. What’s your theory on Ford requiring the use of oils...

The first HDEO engine oil you bought?

I bought my first diesel pickup in 1986. I bought Chevron Delo 400 15W40 at my local Chevron Distributor shortly after buying my pickup.

Chevron’s response to lowered ZDDP in their Delo 400 HDDEOs.

I found this response on another forum, but I found it interesting. Here from the "Horse's Mouth": Hi Jim, The Delo 400 LE 15w-40 will be eventually be phased out with the new government emission requirements of the API CK-4. With the current specifications and direction that they are going...

    Finally on board with CK-4

You’re right. I’ve used P66 Guardol ECT 15W40 and 10W30 in my Detroit Series 60 engine, and I was very happy with it’s performance. I’m currently using Delo 400 XLE, I would happily use it again.

    PQIA HD Tests

Can anyone answer my previous question about Rotella T4 containing no moly? I see it contains a lot of zinc and phosphorus, does that negate having to include moly in their add-pack?

    PQIA HD Tests

I like that Shell/Rotella decided not to make T4 a dual rated oil when CK4 came about. I do find it odd that T4 doesn't contain Moly. Does the higher level of ZDDP offset the need to add Moly?

10w30 HDEO or 15w40, others. What's in your engine?

My Series 60 Detroit motor currently has 15W40 Chevron Delo 400 XLE syn-blend in it's sump. Zero changes in consumption since I switched from Delvac Super 1300 15W40.

Any Harm in Switching Oil Brands?

I've never had a single problem switching brands in any of the vehicles I've owned since the early 80's. I've only used big name brands and did my oil changes as per the recommendations in the owner's manuals. I bought my first Semi Truck in 2015. And I heard a few other Truckers advise...

10w30 HDEO or 15w40, others. What's in your engine?

After viewing A Harman's last UOA on Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W40, I'm going to give Chevron Delo 400 XLE 15W40 a try in my semi truck with a 12.7 Series 60 Detroit motor. I think this is my 3rd OCI back with Delvac Super; I do a pm service every 13,000 to 15,000 miles/350 to 450 hours, but...
