He's very sure he used Mobil 1, the car has always had M1 and before this change he was doing 3K changes.

I've heard the straight PAO synthetic can cause seal problems, but I've also heard the Mobil 1 has a little bit (1-2%) of non synthetic oil to prevent this from happening.

I'm all for not wasting things, but this seems a little obsessive. Maybe a good semi-synthetic for your 06 until it's out of warranty?

Yeah, M1 5w-40 is good stuff, I run it in my turbo saab. You could also go totally overkill and run castrol syntec 5w-50. I'm thinking of giving that a try at some point.

The reason this oil is so stout is cause the 9-5 absolutely rapes its oil. Funny though that this doesn't meet the specs for my 01 9-5 as SAAB at that time called for a A3 spec oil. Though now that I think about it they said use "saab turbo oil <i>or</i> an ACEA A3 oil." <img border="0"...

I think a lot of people are dissappointed with Mobil 1 rather than the oil. The oil is pretty good, but it's not up to Mobil's usual standard of excellence. M1 T&SUV showed us the have the know how and ability to make a totally killer 40 weight, but 0w-40 is just kinda average.

All the 5w-20's seem to be a thick 20 (ha, what an oxymoron that is). You could probably swap in a thin 30 and they'd never know the difference.
