40 year old motorcycle shop recommends Conventional 10-40 Castrol only

I believe the pipe is tucked under the bike for ground clearance. A lot of these bikes were raced. I cannot even access the drain plug. I thought about sucking the oil out from the fill but that is a no go.

40 year old motorcycle shop recommends Conventional 10-40 Castrol only

I suppose I will keep the M1 4T as I was planning to run the old Honda GN4 oil about 1300 miles to get the odometer to 16,000 then do 3k changes with full synthetic. For me that might be the riding season per year. Wanting to do one-year changes as the whole exhaust has to be removed each...

40 year old motorcycle shop recommends Conventional 10-40 Castrol only

Yes, technology has marched on. The GPz has been in the corner of my garage for almost 25 years. I started to look at motorcycles again and was not ready for the prices or having traction control and antilock brakes. Thought it would be easy to get this 40 year old bike back running to retest...

40 year old motorcycle shop recommends Conventional 10-40 Castrol only

Mine came with Uni Foam pods filters but over the years the foam deteriorated and only the springs and end caps remained. The Dynojet stage 3 kit paperwork mentions to use K&N filters with a 4 into 1 pipe. I was going to give them a go but the price for them was just too steep!

40 year old motorcycle shop recommends Conventional 10-40 Castrol only

Love the old air-cooled bikes. The bike had all of the red bits painted green before I bought it in 1997. The pipe was near new when I got it. I plan to paint the wheels all black and the pipe needs a new coat. Bike is mostly stock and complete except the air box being gone and the Bassani...

40 year old motorcycle shop recommends Conventional 10-40 Castrol only

No airbox on this bike. The rubber boots on the engine intake were in good shape but we needed to heat them with a hair dryer for a few minutes to pop the carbs back on after they were cleaned, and all O-rings replaced. Many decades ago, I also had a 1982 KZ550 bought new, great bike!

40 year old motorcycle shop recommends Conventional 10-40 Castrol only

I am reviving a 1982 Kawasaki GPz550 and asked about their recommendations for motor oil. This is a shared sump air-cooled bike. He said they only use Castrol 10-40 conventional as they have seen too many using a synthetic have clutch slippage. Might be right as I remember putting in, I think...

How to get right amount of oil in AC system?

Correct, but you truly do not know how much is actually in it unless you drain and measure.

Thanks for the pictures!! What are you doing with this truck? Can you take the rail adapter thingee off and save some weight or would that make it tippy?

    Need an engine...recommendations?

Ok I see now. I guess he did not want to have to use a tool to get the filter off next time. (y)

    Need an engine...recommendations?

Might want to do an early oil change and see if there is anything in the oil filter. I would peek in the other filter that had the dry run too. Maybe I missed it, was the drain plug missing?

    Aftermarket water pumps

Not sure of a brand currently but my son has been making a lot of purchases from Rock Auto and returns are easy and free. With RA you have to do your research elsewhere. Shipping can be high but prices are good and coupon codes are always floating around.
