    Extended OCI's

Useful to use LC20 with a new car?

Useful to use LC20 with a new car?

Myself and my friend just got a brand new Hyundai Accent and brand new Hyundai Elantra. We'll be running conventional oil from the dealer for 3000 mile changes, until the vehicles are out of warranty. I know that running LC20 makes a lot of sense for high-mileage or older cars and long-OCI cars...

    Same clearances, different viscosity?

Thought: Honda may expect the applications for the S2000/F20 combo to include higher temps.

    Motorcraft At Wal-Mart. Scarce?

I had a healthy wallet today, and wanted to stock up on MC 5W20 for my '07 Elantra. Maybe 5 or 6 gallons. I got another 4 years of payments... I sent my wife out, and I get a phone call with her telling me that they've got 11 qt worth of 5W20, and barely anything in any grades except for 15W40...

'07 Elantra: 11K: What additives to run, when?

Oil's been changed regularly. When I first saw it, before the dealer prep was over, it still had the OLD oil change sticker from before the guy traded it in; it was from the dealer, and current. Thanks, Matthew. On edit: I guess I should ask Auto-RX directly when they think is a good time for...

'07 Elantra: 11K: What additives to run, when?

Folks, I just swapped my '02 Sable for an '07 Hyundai Elantra with just over 11K. I know that running Fuel Power is a good idea for any engine at any mileage. I also know that running Lube Control is a good idea as well, and beginning with my next oil change I'll begin that regime. Here's my...

    Roadrage gone all WRONG!!!

MarkC, I guess you're asking if you should treat a baseball as a deadly weapon the same way you would a hangun. The consensus in law enforcement is yes, unless perhaps it was wielded by a weak, senile old woman or a child small enough that he can't swing it right. One good swing can kill, and...

    Roadrage gone all WRONG!!!

That basically looks real; had it been scripted the insults would have been a little bit better thought out, wittier, and more planned. BMW guy's abuse towards our Canuckistanian terrorist friends would certainly have been more eloquent were this a show. A drawn firearm is certainly *NOT* a good...

Walmart Rotella 15W40 in my turbo Talon

elsmacko, You sure you didn't mean to put 30Weight instead of 10Weight up there? Running 10Weight 'cuz your car burns a whole lot of oil is not exactly orthodox, but if you've got real good arguments as to why it should be done, I assure you BITOG is all ears.

Group-pay VOA of new Havoline "Deposit Sield"

A $25 VOA will tell you levels of various elements in the oil, viscosity and Total Base Number. If the additives don't show up as one of 30 or so elements, they won't show up in a $25 VOA, but nonetheless it is the first step in any serious investigation into a formulation.

Diesel oil in a old Musclecar

Honestly, either Rotella 5W40 or 15W40 have all the additives your 'stang needs. At 1000 miles per year, probably only driven above freezing, the 5W40 would not deliver any benefit over the 15W40. That being said, either is a fine choice, and if I had a '66 Stang I really wouldn't see oil costs...

    SAE 10 & 20 Machine oils.

Sorry, evoboy, but fixing your brakes when the pads wear out is the most effective form of preventive maintenance.

Ok maybe a new question that's not been asked?

sw99: In my territory you would have been looking at "Accella" branch SAE 30 in "API" SA. About 20 cents cheaper per qt than Supertech. What made me sick was "Drug Mart" in Ohio having API SA in 10W40 on the shelf. There is NO legitimate application for that!
